What Movies have you seen lately...Theatre or DVDGraeme and I have been to the local Cinema to watch *AMAZING GRACE* the story about Wilberforce. We very highly recommend it...it was an absolute pleasure to watch. The movie ends with bag pipes playing the song...all that was missing was Hayley appearing giving her voice to it. That would have been awesome!! A must see...5 out of 5 from me. Love, Marianne

Hello Marianne...
I don't go to the cinema very often...couple of times a year. But I did catch the new Harry Potter movie on the 11th July. Perhaps if it rains over the weekend I'll see that again.
The other day, I watched a movie on DVD, called Blizzard. Basically, it's about an offspring of one of Santa's reindeer who helps a young girl to fulfull her ice-skating dream. It's got a good cast...Christopher Plummer as Santa; Whoopi Goldberg lends her voice to computer-animated Blizzard. The movie ends with Aselin Debison singing the end credits...the reason why I purchased the movie!
Cheers, Joe

I saw Harry Potter last weekend and I am going to see Simpsons Movie tomorrow. "Spider pig" looks quite cool. Well, i love the simpsons.
Anyway, I got "Little Man" a very long time ago and only watched it recent (DVD) and its very good. Quite funny. Also have the DVD set of Chronicals Narnia, the original version, not the new one, and only watched about half of it. Have not seen it in years.

Hi Everyone, Haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned yet ! The Simpson one sounds fun, although I am not a regular fan of the shows. I watched *The Italian Job* DVD a couple of weeks ago (not the original one) and loved it ! Edward Norton has the role of the wicked one...I love him as an actor !! Have you seen him in *The Illusionist* ?? Another must see on DVD, if you ask me. My next DVD is hopefully going to be *The Painted Veil*. I missed that in the Movies. Has anyone watched it already ?? I have phases of not watching anything for months and then I watch some I have missed...haha. Love, Marianne

"Spider Pig" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI watched HP 5, it was pretty good although my friend was disappointed. I recently watched " An American Haunting". Okay anyone who doesn't like scary or spooky movies, close your eyes i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I like horror/suspense/mystery/psychological thrillers i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif (But somehow I also like drama and comedy...hm...)The movie is based on the Bell Witch legend in Tennesse. Not really a "scary" movie but it's not so bad, hence the bad ratings it received. I wouldn't say it's a "horror" movie, more like a suspense/mystery. I also watched " Stigmata", again, I hadn't watched it in a long time, still is a good movie I say. The color of blood is emphasized quite well in the scenes. Meldy

Meldy Hi Meldy, I am more into romantic happy movies with a Crime/Suspense in between. Get too scared with some Thrillers...don't like graphic violence at all !!! Have you watched *The Passion*... that is most moving and painful to watch but a true account of Christ's trial and crucifixion. Not for weak hearts or stomachs at all...I had to leave the picture towards the end...it was too close to the bone. Love, Marianne

I have seen The Passion, Marianne, and thought it was very harsh, but then again, so are movies like that as they are meant to be. It was a bit of a nightmare for me... I have seen a great film recently (it is not new at all!!) Sense and Sensibility, starring Kate Winslet. Awesome film. Almost as good as Pride and Prejudice!! I've also seen Harry Potter 5 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3 lately, and they were absolutely awesome on the big screen!! Dori

I've watched the Passion and yes it was quite...quite an experience but it shows the truth and nothing but the truth. My friend told me " Sense and Sensibility" was good (the one with Kate Winslet exactly) I guess she was right Dori Even though I'm a Bronte person, not a Jane Austen fan hehe i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I have to say BBC's version of " Jane Eyre" is my favorite BBC production. No, it does not follow the novel (I certainly know that, Jane Eyre is my favorite novel i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif ) But....the movie is brilliant! And Marianne, it's got romance and suspense, well, more like mystery It's got my favorite stew: Romance, drama, and mystery. Meldy

Meldy Hi Meldy, Do you mean the 1983 version with Timothy Dalton as Mr Rochester and Zelah Clarke as Jane Eyre? Personally I think Timothy Daltion is a little bit too handsome to play the role of Rochester, haha. But he did a great job in playing Rochester. After watching so many different version(TV drama+movies) of Jane Eyre, I think my favourite is the 1997 version which was directed by Robert Young. P.S. Jane Eyre is my favourite book too. I am now re-reading it for the fifth time. Raymond

Meldy Hi Meldy, Thank you for your recommendation of Sense and Sensibility and Jane Eyre. Will look for it soon. I adore Wuthering Heights, but can't remember whether I have watched the Movie. There is one, quite old I think. Have you watched Pride and Prejudice, another brilliant BBC production. I also loved *Emma* the Book by Jane Austen. Jane Eyre being my 2nd favorite book and the first English Classic I read when I came to Australia. Take care, love, Marianne

We watched *Fargo* 2 days ago and thought it excellent except for a couple of *Adult* scenes. It is a true story and excellently told and filmed. The location is Brainerd and Minneapolis. In winter...you will feel cold after you have watched it...well, we did. Love, Marianne

There's a movie I'm dying to see, it is called 'Atonement' and is directed by Joe Wright (who did the movie 'Pride and Prejudice') with - again - Keira Knightley and Scottish actor James McAvoy. It's the film adaptation of 'Atonement', a book by Ian McEwan. A must read so it will be interesting to see the movie. Early reviews are very positive, they say it will probably win lots of Academy Awards. Other than that, I have recently seen 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' and it was not as bad as I was told. Quite enjoyable in fact!

Thank you Stephany for alerting me to the movie. Is *Amazing Grace* showing yet ?? I am not a Harry Potter fan , but our son Lex has all the DVDs, so one rainy day I might get around to looking at them ! Who knows when that will be though, since we do not have many rainy days...we live in a SUNNY country !! Love, Marianne
