And this is in the UK, which is the toughest sentencer of the EU countries. Personally, I think Europe would be better off if they started "permanently getting rid of" murderers, et al, and also took a look at "three strikes and you're out" laws. The fact is that fully funded retirement in a crime-loaded system has very little value. As someone suggested to me about creating a special thread (and I will) on my inviting debate on the harmonies and disharmonies of the English language in the middle of the Worcester thread, may I suggest this debate my also have its own thread headed, say, 'moral values', since that makes it more Hayley related than 'Crime and punishment'? In specific answer to this post, I have always been a 'flog 'em and hang 'em' man but continually argue the validity against myself! Peter Hi Peter, I hinted strongly after fusilier's comment on C/P that it was off topic and I'd appreciate it if you would shorten your existing response to match what I've quoted above, thanks! You've both indicated your views on C/P and I think we should leave it at that. The off-topic ground rules are explained here and C/P is certainly one of those difficult subjects meant to be covered by it. Cheers, Dave

I just said it was something that some might want to LOOK at, I have no intention of opening some thorny debate here.

With all this off topic chat, I think Dave and Roger missed this one,
Or perhaps they are just ignoring me!

Steve,
Maybe it's just me, but I have no desire to know what Dave or Roger did for a living. The air of mystery is important here because they manage the site and perform all the magic that makes it so rewarding to visit. Tear away the curtain and we're left with "Oh, is that all?" When I reveal my past to people it usually changes their current opinion of me, and hardly ever for the better. I'm sure these two remarkable men must have been ordinary folk at one time but it's far more fun to view them as mystical and abstract.
Steve

Hi Steve, Perhaps if they reply, you can look the other way, or if you have no desire to know the occupation of forum members, why are you in a threat entitled: WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION They can always tell me to mind my own business! Yours respectfully, Steve H

Um, what was the question? Oh yes, I know! Yes, I do have internet access in the office were I work but if it is for personal reasons, I can only use it during my own time, like lunch time. And no, I don't get a lot of sleep, especially in the office! Sorry Steve, I didn't mean to ignore you. I just got caught up in other issues. Roger

I work as a software projects manager, employed by a small American software company in the UK. The software is used by large companies to manage complex business processes and free up key knowledge workers to focus on their most important work. Most of our projects so far are for isurance and credit card companies.
I implement the software at customer sites running project teams typically up to about 15-20 staff.
I go to Denver a couple times a year for training and other activties (company is based there) but I live on the Norfolk coast near Cromer, in the UK.
When I am between projects or doing in-house work (as at the moment) I sit in my little home office with views to the sea and the bird feeders in my garden.
Currently two long-tailed tits are clinging to a fatball, a blue tit is watching somewhat anxiously, some sparrows are squabbling over the seed feeder, some other sparrows are havng dust baths and a blackbird is singing lustily.
It's a hard life sometimes.....

Hi All, I'm a law student. I returned to University last September to study for an LLB in Law, having graduated 10 years ago with an IT degree. 9 years of working in an IT company provided me with great experience. Latterly working with commercial lawyers whetted my appetite for law. I plan to study a postgraduate diploma next year and then find some work within a law firm as a trainee. This Forum is a great recreational activity in between studying! Believe it or not, it really helps me to concentrate!!! Regards, Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Sounds interesting, good luck with your future plans, its nice to have goals to aim for! but whatever happens I hope you will always be a good old Hayley supporter!
Like you I find the forum very therapeutic and it gets me away from the day to day stuff! I am off to India next week so its going to be peace and quiet for you all, you will have to take over the IL Divo searches for me!

Hi Andrew, I have been there on business many times before, as we have a satellite manufacturing unit in Bangalore, but this one is pleasure, I am taking my daughter for a week in Goa to catch a bit of early sun and just chill out for a week. I will see if I can convert a few locals to HWI. Steve

Yes, please try to spread the word about Hayley and HWI! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard
