Nice pictures everybody! The amount of posted pictures has grown exponentially since I have been on here. Here are some pictures from a trip to Arizona/New Mexico I took with my family this summer. I tried to provide a brief sampling (I took tons of pictures.) (Caite – weirdly I went to the Grand Canyon this summer too.) The Grand Canyon. It was getting close to sunset in this picture. The Grand Canyon again. A cute lizard towards the bottom of the canyon. (We didn’t hike to the bottom; we only went about 4.6 miles and then 4.6 back up.) The Grand Canyon again. The Grand Canyon. You can see the Colorado River in this one. Lava near Sunset Crater in Arizona. Near Sunset Crater in Arizona. Near Sedona, Arizona (Red Rock Country.) Near Sedona again. Sunset at Sedona. Montezuma’s Well in Arizona. This oasis (it is in the middle of the desert) is incredibly lush. The water that is in the well comes up through the ground (I can’t remember exactly how it works.) There were ruins here as well (I’m not sure, but I think they were 900 years old.) Near Montezuma’s Well. A squirrel near Montezuma’s Well sitting on the ruins. I was obsessed with him; he sat like that for at least 5 minutes before moving. It looked like he was trying to discover the secrets of the forest. A flowering cactus near Phoenix, Arizona. (We stopped a few miles outside of it to get food. Kind of funny, it was located at a drive up Mexican Restaurant—the first one I have seen—that was connected to a Dairy Queen.) The White Sand National Monument in southern New Mexico. Ignore the quality problems. I just reformatted my computer (and haven’t reinstalled anything) so I resized these on a preinstalled program. Now I can see why I never use this program.

Wow Katie those are great pictures! For some reason the white sand one strikes me the most. I actually didn't go to the Grand Canyon. We were all having a bit of fun. Maybe I'll get out there one day. <3 Caite

Hi Katie.
A super set of pictures of your trip. Brings back many memories and reminds me of the tremendous (but fun, as your pictures have reminded me) job i have to do sorting through old film files and digitising--they are all 35mm as being the only practical way of showing them to friends in those days. It was quite a trip and created a real ripple of excitement back then in the UK.

Thanks from me too for the additional pics that have arrived since I last looked in this thread. The Grand Canyon ones are fabulous kmsmith8. (Katie does seem easier to write) I'm only going to post 1 pic & it's significance is that our Southern Hemisphere spring is about to start. (has started as you can see from these plum blossoms) The official start date is 1st Sept. but the plum tree didn't know that. Can you see anything of whose presence I had no clue when I was pressing the button? The other thing of interest is that 3 hours plane flight to my ESE, as of yesterday, also noticing the spring blossoms I would think, is Hayley.Graemek

Peter Hey Peter, I would LOVE to make it out to the Grand Canyon. Finding the time to go is the only problem, hence the maybe. My family was going to go a few years ago but we had a family emergency and had to cancel at the last minute. Things have been crazy here ever since. No, I take that back, things are always crazy here! <3 Caite

Hi there Graemek!
That's a great photo. I bet you were surprised to find that little creature buzzing about your photo. Happy nearly spring!

Hey Graemek,
I love you picture! You mentioning the coming of spring reminded me of the coming of winter up here in the northern hemisphere. Last winter was relatively mild here in Illinois so hopefully it will be the same this year. Enjoy the coming season down there.

Welcome back, Katie and thank you for your stunning photographs. They are worthy of inclusion in the National Geographic magazine.

Hi Katie! I love your picutures from the Grand Canyon. They remind me about my tour to the southwest of the USA last year. To see the Grand Canyon is a real breathtaking experience. For me my desaster came when I was back home. My camera was broken which I haven't noticed before and there was no photo on all of the films from the whole southwest tour. I was freaking out when I realized that everything was gone!!! Luckily I was travelling in a big group. So a friend of mine gave me some photos and also a couple from Berlin that was with us on the tour burned me a CD with many pictures. After that experience I bought myself a digital camera. Now I can see if there's a picture on the chip or not. But someday I have to go there again. Thomas

Happy nearly spring! <3 Caite Thanks Caite, yes I was surprised because if i'd planned to include her (the bee) in the shot there would have been empty space. Now that I have your attention Caite I want to ask you something: Why do you always sign yourself <3 Caite?? It mystifys me. Not the Caite part but the <3. To me <3 means 'less than 3' ie. 1 or 2. Thanks Katie, yes our planet is doing a wobble in our favour for a while. We live about 34 degrees South so our winters are relatively mild normally. (Hayley's city Christchurch is at ~ 45 deg South) For example I can use my halfcab boat anytime in the year. No layup period necessary. I think your Lake Michigan gets at least very icy , if not frozen over in winter (??) Graemek
