Hi again Here are a few more photos from a different walk we went on to a bird sanctuary - also in Oxfordshire. It was a wonderfully peaceful place and on that day, early in January, it was cold and frosty - around -5 C. This is what it was like - although my camera isn't good enough for you to see the birds in the distance: My daughter Sophie busy with her camera (she won't like me posting this photo as she is in her wellington boots) We loved it there and shall definitely be going back sometime soon - maybe when its warmer and perhaps to take a picnic. Best wishes Mark

Changing gears, here are a few pics I took right after a snowfall in PA. The Narnia tree in winter. I am looking forward to doing pics in the spring and summer when it's not quite so cold.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the photos. I recognised Blenheim immediately, before reading your words, since we went there a couple of years ago. It is a lovely place, and well worth a walk around. I remember seeing a falconry demonstration while we were there.

Hi Mark,
Wonderful photos! Is that area in Oxfordshire an estuary of the Thames perhaps? Those wellingtons don't look so bad...as long as they keep your daughter's feet dry!
Hello fusilier23,
I'm almost prompted to ask you from "which snowfall" your photos are from! Well done. Thanks also for sharing your pics of your historical pieces.
Thanks also to Grant...for his photos. When one thinks about it, the London Eye hub is not dissimilar to a bicycle tire. Great shot of the wonderfully-lit Palace of Westminster.
Best to all, Joe

The snow pictures were taken on January 20th, I believe, or the Sunday nearest.

Hi All & thanks for the great variety of subjects.....we never run out of photo worthy objects animate & inanimate !!! I wonder if any aeronautically inclined among us would recognise the manufacturer & model of this aircraft. Up until yesterday I had no idea either but was determined to find out what exactly I'd snapped. Any takers? Graeme

Great work Ross !!!! Of course you're 100% correct. My own path of discovery was 1st being able to read the Rego letters VH MMP. They'd been taped up but you could see thru the tape. Also the "P" above the pilots windows confirmed that last letter. Once I did a search using the reg. I came up with a crash report from 1973. The plane had to do a belly landing due to seal particles getting into the hydraulics. VH MMP rego now belongs to a Mooney. Did you come across the flying boat version Ross? PS here's a link to this plane before the rego was masked off: www.airliners.net/photo/Piaggio-P-166/0193444/L/Graeme

I wonder if the seats face the wrong way too!

Yes Steve, True. I've got to admit I was a bit doubful about the concrete weights attached to the wings too. They could do a lot of damage in turbulent flight. Graeme

In preparation for Hayley's tour to NZ shortly I have bought a new digital camera which will hopefully allow me to take photos at concerts. I have a Sony DSC-H3 10x zoom and 8.1 MP and up to ISO3200. I took some photos of the Avon River in Christchurch where there is a floral display as part of the Flower festival happening at the moment. floating floral display duck likes it looking from the bridge water wheel nearby Now all you camera experts if I set the camera to the ISO setting (giving me ISO 3200) with flash off would that work during concerts. I can turn off the beeps and also the AF illuminator as it gives off a red light. I can do manual settings so what ISO , shutter speeds and Aperture value do you use at concerts. I hope to test the camera at Fiona Pear's concert in the Christchurch Cathedral on Saturday.

What a strange coincidence ! We too have a Christchurch here in England and yes the River Avon flows through it ! Hayley will pass it on Wednesday.
