Jillian Yes Jillian, What Sandyn has just said will make perfect sense to you when you get your copy !!!! That DVD was playing, via TV, downstairs at our place in Sept. 2006 & I was upstairs.....this unbelievably beautiful voice mesmerized me & stopped me doing whatever I was doing.....I bounced down the stairs & said to my wife...who is it. She didn't know but we both sat enraptured until the concert was finished. It was none other than Hayley Westenra. Best DVD of a concert I've ever come across I think. And Hayley is completely in command of it. She still leaves me breathless. Graeme

I haven't seen the DVD anywhere here, Jono -- so I'm presuming it's not readily available. Unfortunately, my credit card was denied ... probably rightfully so -- seeing as I'm a uni student. So I think that I might go back into the bank and ask for a Debit Card.
Then I might finally be able to start making some Hayley purchases over the internet.

Oh ok, that's strange. I thought it would have been. Out of curiosity, how well is Hayley promoted in Australia? I notice a few regular Australians on here, which is good to see!
BTW, I've been to Queensland once, to Brisbane. It wasn't a very long stay, but I really enjoyed it...loved the temperature, and all the fruit, and FRESH macadamias! And I got to see the Irwin's Australia Zoo up North...which is amazing. (Sorry I'm so off topic, I've got myself rambling...)
In regards to the credit card...I'm surprised! At universities here they hand out cards and over-drafts like "Hot Cakes", and our banks are mostly owned by yours lol. (I agree that it's not a good thing though!).

Well, she did sing on Dancing with the Stars in Australia once, didn't she? Singing The Water is Wide?

I think that was on the NZ - Dancing With the Stars... but I'm not sure if it was filmed in NZ or in Australia. I know a couple of our game shows are filmed in Melbourne over there. Budget New Zealanders lol..

Re Jillian: JB Hi-Fi sells Hayleys DVD. I got my two copies from from the Epping and Watergardens stores in Victoria. They're fairly helpful too as they have a database of all the other stores products if they're out of stock. Hayley doesn't get promoted here at all which sucks bigtime

Hi Jillian, Libby, Sandy , Jon & Tasselhof, The DVD of this thread has been aired Australiawide to my knowledge at least 2x. eg.: hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=livefromnz&action=display&thread=3142&page=9#79625When Treasure was released my wife & I went to a few of the main Sydney shops to see what sort of stocks were held. We also talked to the assistants & one of them told us that Hayley had quite a following here....I was pleased to hear it as to find knowledge of her among passers by is quite a rare thing. ( & I don't have much trouble asking direct questions to people while still remaining friendly.) I've never found one copy of either of her books in the shops here. (I rang a few big sellers in Sydney) Neither have I found any copy of West Side Story CD. Treasure was promoted in the 'Readings' mini-concert in Melbourne which 199 Melbournites plus 1 me attended. 3 songs plus an interview....excellent. hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Concert&action=display&thread=1024&page=1#21084She had visited 2 Melbourne TV studios before she came to Readings which produced respectively Scarborough Fair with the famous vocalisation version and the delightful Sonny. So that's just me. If I find a person who's a musician, I always ask if he/she has heard of her and usually it's yes but you'd sort of expect that. We have all of her CD's (not marginally different ones tho) & I probably have all of her songs. The bulk of those we've bought from website mail ordering companies from the US, NZ ,UK & Japan. Probably 3 of our CDs were bought here & I bought one of the Live from NZ DVDs that I've purchased from a South Australian mail ordering place. Well, I think that'll do from me, hope it helps paint the picture. Graeme

Hi Graeme,
Do you think Hayley has put down permanent roots in the UK for the foreseeable future? I've just about come to that conclusion based on her past actions.

Hi Graeme, Jillian, Libby, Sandy , Jon & Tasselhof and anyone else who wants to join in!
Yes indeed, Graeme, this concert has been aried in many countries around the world but, as far as I know, it would be the version that was first broadcast on PBS for whom it was originally made. That version deliberately didn't include two songs (I can't remember whi two) because they wanted people to eventually buy the DVD.
Of course, the DVD also has a lot of bonus footage including a 29-minute interview that has never been broadcast anywhere.
The revival of this thread leads me, once again, to urge anyone who doesn't have this DVD to try to obtain it. I know it isn't easily available in some parts of the world and I realise that not all members are able to order online. But anyone who likes Hayley enought to join this forum really should have it so, if there is any way you can do so, please try to get it. It is a splendid production of a truly wonderful concert and I know you will love it.
Larry, as Hayley has bought a property in London (as opposed to renting one as she had done in the past), the answer to your quesion is presumably yes. I'll keep this brief as it is off topic but it doesn't really matter where she is based as she is constantly touring the world. So, she has a home in NZ and one in London but, to all intents and purposes, she is truly international.
Roger

I agree with you Roger. This is a superb DVD even if it is a few years old. I still enjoy playing it, although I live in hope of future concert DVDs.
Hayley's London base came about I think because it is close to some important places for her work, like her record company. But I understand Larry's point, her US fans seem to hardly ever get the chance to see her in their own country. I think perhaps a visit to the USA is overdue, but this year she seems to be concentrating on Japan, I'm sure for good commercial reasons.
