Belinda, thank you too. Sophie is not just a lovely girl but, most importantly from your photograph, she is SOPHIE, NOT Hayley's younger sister. I'm sure that will please both Sophie and Hayley.

What happened (as I suddenly realise the dating of the posts), to the Sophie CD. I bought Hayley's 'Walking in the Air', of whch I'll speak elsewhere (memories of Hayley, Nostalgia forum and would love to obtain Sophie's first.

Nice photo Belinda.
The outfit she was wearing triggered a dim memory in the old brain as soon as I saw it. I went to my video archives and played the "Angel" video, recorded in Sept., and there it was! The photo was not from the video however but it may have been taken during practice or some place completely different. I believe the "Well Done Sophie" thread refers to this performance.
The video definitely separates Sophie from Hayley. They are each one of a kind as it should be.

I have been fortunate enough to meet Sophie on a few occasions and I am always astonished by her remarkable maturity. Previous posters are quite right to credit her as herself and not as Hayley's sister, however, there are some inevitable similarities. They share a natural ability to be able to communicate with fans both on and off stage. They have distinguished and beautiful voices and they both make you feel so much at ease in their presence.
And yes, it is a lovely picture of her. I, too, long for the day when I can obtain her CD.

Thank you for that lovely photo of Sophie, Belinda!  I had a very enjoyable little chat with Sophie at Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre back in July, and she certainly shares Hayley's skills in talking to fans. I was rather disappointed that Sophie didn't take part in the show, but I did see her singing with Hayley at the London Palladium in March last year, and she was excellent. Hi Daddy Tom. The Angel song was from a televised charity event to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. The picture was taken at the South City Talent Quest , both were in September. Postscript : New Zealand is ready and waiting for Hayley I have my contacts here on Hayley alert. re appearances and Newspaper articles etc. Sophie has an appearance in late February hopefully we will hear more of this event. I was just looking at the Class of 2005 at Burnside High School, and noticed Sophie there, but I had never seen her full name listed before. It is Sophie Larelle Westenra, I have never heard the name Larelle before, does anybody know where it comes from?  Steve H |

Steve H I'm glad you gave us the cold information because I was going to wax lyrical about the singular difference both of voice and approach between the two sisters and that Sophie could indeed follow her own career without in any way being in her sister's shadow,. which may be of concern for her in thinking about IF she wanted to follow a singing career. It would be nice to hear her without a cold but there was a 'dusky' country music tone to her voice and in her style. A lady to watch. I don't think she need fear the predominance of her elder sister. She is herself naturally and they are different people (I think, says, he on too slender an association). Peter |

Hi , Sophie singing Angel was on our local Tv Station CTV The programme was a fundraiser called Harcourts House Party and was on September 11th 2005. I took a video of this over to Britain and passed it over to gerrit at the Unicef concert,who digitised it and put it on HWI.net so it should be there for download, There are some screen shoots of this event from the video on my Sophie site www.piczo.com/sophie-westenra in the page shows and performances 2004/2005 Belinda |
