:(I wished I found the following web page from the University Of Canterbury months ago as it features Sophie and her fellow students of the music school especially her involvement in The Silver Swan which could be bought as a DVD or CD from the University. So hopefully it is still available and I will go in soon and see if I can get the DVD. www.canterbury.ac.nz/platform/index.shtml

It was also great seeing Dame Malvina being involved and details of their new piano which I hope I shall be able to follow up on, possibly the talk about its manufacture will be on the DVD. I look forward to hearing details of what is on both CD and DVD. There is an online order form but at the moment I am in an entanglement with Parcelforce over CDJapan's very late delivery of their 3-4 days estimate. I'll deal with that under that thread, I'm just wary of overseas orders at the moment. Peter S.

Hi...just for the record I am not "taking offence because people disagree with me". I was just voicing an opinion. And I and my friends are members of tons of performers forums. I find that this one is very different than the others though. Anyway...i like Hayleys music. Thanks for your post, Annie. This oldie here was just concerned he didn't discourage you. Your latest post is most interesting. Would you like to expound on it a little bit? What are the differences you notice and how do you feel about them? Nothing stands still, so we need to know if we are moving in the right directions. Where do you think we score? Where do you think we miss the goal post? At Richard's request I've re-allocated the following text herePeter S.

Sophie was the first member of the Westenra family that I ever met back in 2004. She'd sung Panis Angelicus with Hayley and Greensleeves with Isaac on the Pure Tour and was the first to emerge from the stage door afterwards. I was the first fan to approach her and she signed my Pure poster with her trademark 6 dots over the "i" of Sophie like the petals of a flower or maybe a starburst (wonder if she still does that?) and then giggled deliciously. A lovely girl and a great singer in her own right.

Hi...just for the record I am not "taking offence because people disagree with me". I was just voicing an opinion. And I and my friends are members of tons of performers forums. I find that this one is very different than the others though. Anyway...i like Hayleys music. Hi Annie, Well, maybe that is because Hayley herself is very different from other performers. For one thing, she regards many of her fans as personal friends, and knows many members of this forum by name. She goes out of her way to be available to meet them after concerts, and has even sent out people to find fans that she recognised in the audience. I would hope, if you haven't already, you will one day get to hear Hayley perform live. Make yourself known to the HWI folk who will be there, recognisable by their Westenra Tartan ties or HWI tops, and you will be made welcome, and may even get to meet Hayley. And yes, all of us are here because we love Hayley's music. Poke around a bit, and you will see what I mean. Sorry mods, this isn't about Sophie. Best Wishes Martin

:rollin Well I went to the Canterbury University today and went to the Music School. A technician dubbed me a DVD and CD copy of "The Silver Swan and Other Animals" and for only $20. The music is from about the 16th Century and most pieces of music was introduced by a poem beforehand. Sophie appears a few times in the concert with either other singers or by herself in one song. Sophie first appears in three songs with another soprano (Alana Boyd) and a tenor (Robin Bond) under the heading of Consort music for voices and instruments The Three Ravens by Thomas Ravenscroft (1582 - 1635) Une puce by Claude Le Jeune (1530 - 1600) Il est bel et bon by Pierre Passerau (1509 - 1547) She then appears by herself under the heading English Ayres My Love hath Vowed by Thomas Campion (1567 - 1620) She also appeared with the other singers for three more short songs The silver swan by Orlando Gibbons ( 1583 - 1625) Audite nova by Orlando Lassus (1532 - 1594) Der Gutzgauch by Lorenz Lemlin (1496 - 1549) Sophie was amazing in this concert. She has a very good classical voice and will be another great singer to come from the Westenra family. Now moderators do you think it would be all right to show a 30 second sample from the DVD as I can not find a copyright on the cover of the DVD. Let me now if I can show it or not.

Hello Ross! I think a 30 second clip would be perfectly acceptable. It might encourage others to buy the DVD. Richard

Thanks for the clip Ross Sophie sounds amazing, I hope she comes over to the UK soon to sing with Hayley! I would like this too, but I doubt if it'll be before Sophie finishes uni Thanks again Ross, Do you happen to have any details for how to get hold of the DVD for those of us who are overseas? I wonder if Sophie launches her own music career as a singer, if this forum will have to change it's name: HSWI or WI ? Dean
