...what would you all want on it?
I'd say every Christmas song she's ever sung and anything else she wishes to sing!

Of course I would.
In fact, I suspect that a properly marketed Christmas album might actually be agood last ditch effort to jumpstart her in the US. Dave mentioned that Christmas albums in general do better here than elsewhere in the world, and year after year they do. There isnt a guarantee because the quality of the competition such a release would be up against varies wildly from year to year. Thanks to Groban's "Noel" this was a very good year not to do it - unless of course it had a duet with him on it.
Ironically, this genre is often used here by bigger name artists with declining sales as well. It gives them one additional chance at better sales. The downside of course that it can normally only be done once. I havent done any research on this, so I could easily be wrong, but I have a distinct impression that a fair number of artitsts did a Christmas album as their last commercially successful release..
Obviously there are exceptions to this, like the Groban release mentioned above.

you're making me feel like I'm not from the US! I think a Christmas album released here would help a lot- but the question was what do you want on it, not should she do it.

Hello Grant and Northern Lights! I've found this: folksong.org.nz/nzchristmas/te_harinui.htmlThe carol is also known as 'Te Harinui', but it may not be a genuine Maori song. It appears to have been written by Willow Macky in 1957. Richard

Hi Richard
What a remarkable find! There's lots of lovely stuff on there, including a German version of "Not on a snowy night" Interesting that the title on the music is "Te Harinui", although the writer doesn't appear to be Maori.
I particularly like this one though!
Best wishes Grant

Thanks for that, Grant! Somehow I don''t think Hayley will record that. However, she might like to consider 'Märie Te Pö', which is the Maori version of 'Silent Night'. folksong.org.nz/nzchristmas/marie_te_po.htmlRichard

Best wishes Grant Hello Grant and Northern Lights and everyone, I did suggest to Hayley after the Bath concert that Not on A Snowy Night might be a good song to record for her next album. She seemed immediately to like the idea and her eyes lit up - she became quite animated about it! I suspect that she is always looking for good traditional NZ songs to include on her albums so you never know, we might just find it there, later in 2008! Of course, if Hayley does record it, it is more likely to be on a Christmas Special Edition as a bonus track, rather than on her next main album - but I would not now be surprised at all to find it on one of them fairly soon! Cheers, Dave

But then again, so would any Christmas song! I need MGTY and another Christmas Hayley album!!!!

Hi Dave
I was actually listening in on your conversation with Hayley about that particular carol and she did seem to take on board your suggestion.
Here's hoping!
Best wishes Grant
