Hello all, It's finally here!!! It's not the 2CD edition, like Odyssey and Pure, which surpised me. There was also no sign of any 'new' booklet. It doesn't really extend out like the one for Odyssey did (and that one had a new photo too - this one doesn't). So as promised, here are some photos, and i'm off to listen to 'God Defend NZ', while i study for my exams!! Dori Edit: I reduced the size of the pictures to 800x600 Stephany

Hello all, The National Anthem is....BEAUTIFULL!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif You've all got to haer it someday!! It's so different to the one on her self titled album.... Yeah, The Warehouse looked up WSS on the computers - none to speak of. Will have to wait and see if other shops will have them....so sad i don't have a copy of it yet. It's too bad this special edition doesn't haev Jekyll or I'm Kissing You, or evern songs from WSS. I was really hoping this edition was going to include I Feel Pretty, but it obvioulsy haven't. So my excitement kind of drained out, because i have all the bonus tracks on my JP version of Treasure. Oh well, at least one track is new!! :2fun: Dori

Hi Dori and thanks for the pictures.
The CD looks very nicely presented and I'm pleased that it is actually identified as a 'Special Edition'. Pity about the booklet though.
Now I'm really looking forward to hearing this new recording of "God Defend New Zealand" when my copy arrives!.
Best wishes Grant

Hi Belinda and Dori and (especially) all other Kiwis! It looks like the release date was delayed by one week for some reason. That would explain why it isn't in the new NZ album chart, just published. I'm sure it will be back in the chart next week. I've just been listening to the track samples on iTunes NZ and I was very impressed with how much stronger Hayley's voice is when singing the National Anthem, compared to the version she did on "Hayley Westenra" all those years ago. Hayley certainly sounds very much more "involved" emotionally this time round and of course, the powerful orchestral backing adds to the power of it. Most impressive. I'd really like to get my hands on this track - the trouble is, I already have all the other tracks on the Special Edition so I can't make up my mind whether or not to order it! Cheers, Dave

A million thanks Dave for the tip-off. I had not realized it could be on Itunes New Zealand and I'm now listening to the track sample thanks to you. The difference with the 'Hayley Westenra' version is striking. The orchestra of Prague does help to enhance it but we can also clearly tell that Hayley's voice has seriously gone richer and richer over the years. The result is...stunning! I'd really like to get my hands on this track - the trouble is, I already have all the other tracks on the Special Edition so I can't make up my mind whether or not to order it! I have the same dilemma, Dave. I probably won't order it just for one song though so I suppose that all I need to do now is wait and keep my fingers crossed for a UK Special Edition of 'Treasure'. Hello Dave and Stephany, What is the link of the song? I think I was in iTunes NZ, but I cannot find the sample. Thank you. Raymond

Hi Stephany, I don't know if she would put the NZ anthem on one specially for the UK. You will probably get Land of Hope and Glory or Rule Britannia i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I will get it , i would have loved it to have the other cover though Belinda

Hehe Belinda. Are you telling me to buy the NZ special edition? I might as well follow your advice Raymond, I don't think I can give you a direct link. I launched my Itunes program and chose the 'New Zealand store'. Then typed 'Hayley Westenra' in the search engine and there it was. Stephany

Hayley certainly sounds very much more "involved" emotionally this time round and of course, the powerful orchestral backing adds to the power of it. Most impressive. Dave, One other possible reason is that now it means more than it did back then. I know from my own experience that when singing G-d Defend New Zealand as a child, it was just words. As I've grown older and spent more time away from home, it has become more than just words. I was chatting with Gerald at Passchendaele and the conversation turned to just how much you learn about New Zealand after you leave it. History in NZ high schools doesn't take up a lot of time, simply because there isn't that much of it, and you're not taught much about global history. WWI was pretty much - it happened. WWII was a little more in depth, mentioning Hitler, but not a lot about the Jews etc. In the UK, you learn more about the NZ and Aussie contribution to the world than you ever did back home, and how much people appreciate that two small countries contributed so much in two wars literally half a world away. Perhaps NZ could do with learning just how valuable their contributions have been, and perhaps this is why G-d Defend NZ now means more than it did a few years ago.. it is no longer just the words that come out, but the emotion born from history, knowledge, love and appreciation for a little country so very far away. ~Chris and just as I hit the Post button, Crowded House came onto the radio.. spooky, eh

Hi Chris
I actually prefer your "God Defend New Zealand" to our own national anthem. It's not that I'm against royalty or our Queen, and it probably has something to do with the depth of feeling and passion that Hayley puts into it at the end of the day.
I just feel that to include the whole country as opposed to just one person, albeit the monarch of that country, has much more meaning to it.
I've discussed this with several of my friends and the general consensus seems to be the same.
Now to keep on topic, my copy of this album still has not arrived!
Best wishes Grant
