What surprises me is that 'Danny Boy', always immensely popular live, is the only song not to have received any votes. Roger I do love Hayley's cover of this old song (probably we all do) but I just don't love it enough to make it my favourite- I know it too long that the song itself doesnt wow me too much anymore. As for myself, if I remember correctly, I had voted for Le Notte del Silenzio. Its melody is beautiful and easy to remember, and I love the Italian chorus. By the way, it's really heartening to see that songs which Hayley had taken part in writing received more votes than the others; can I consider that an evidence of Hayley's talent in composing? Tin

After a week of agonizing, trying to choose between seven songs, I have voted for Melancholy Interlude. This may be one of the the shortest songs on any album in my collection but it is outstanding for its beauty and simplicity. It captures perfectly the mood it tries to portray and the words - 100% Hayley's words - are the perfect compliment to the original music by English late Renaissance composer (16th/17th Century) John Dowland. Hayley's lyrics are an essential part of what makes this song so gorgeous and by painting a broad picture, leaving the details to the listeners' imagination, for me it just works. I absolutely love it to bits. Wow. Dave I agree Dave. I couldn't have put it better myself. My favourite was Danny Boy, but Melancholy Interlude has now become my favourite. I also like Sonny. However, Hayley's live version of Sonny (in Belfast) was amazing - so much better than the CD version.

I voted for Let Me Lie, but if I were choosing my top 3, it would be followed by Melancholy Interlude & Sonny (which I see didn't get as many votes).
It always seemed strange to me that Danny Boy was so popular, while Sonny seemed to get less attention. In my opinion, Sonny is a much, much better song. Danny Boy has grown on me, but it'll never be a favorite of mine.
Santa Lucia definitely had to grow on me. Very different from her previous work.

Hello again Cherany
What made this one difficult was being able to vote for only one track. I think if the poll was to begin now, Sonny would get a huge vote because it's become a bit of a classic with Hayley and HWI.
I find your other comments quite interesting also. I also think "Melancholy Interlude" is an amazing track. Had you realised that it contains only 32 words? I also like "Santa Lucia" - maybe you have to actually see Hayley sing it, but it is a very happy little song which Hayley seems to really enjoy singing. As for "Danny Boy", well, I was intrigued and a little dismayed when I heard that Hayley was to include it on 'Treasure' as it is a song I have never liked, but I actually love Hayley's version.
Best wishes Grant

I do wonder how my opinion might've differed, had I been familiar with Danny Boy before Hayley/Celtic Woman tackled it, but I'm quite possibly the only person who wasn't. The first time I heard it was live at a Celtic Woman concert (with Hayley). It was nice, but I was expecting to hear her sing songs I knew from Pure & Odyssey (I wasn't aware then of how the tour was set-up – I only knew I like CW & loved Hayley & was getting both in one).
Once I had Treasure, the song grew on me, and I do like it. I guess it's just hard to think highly of songs I "like" of Hayley's, when I'm used to LOVING her songs. (Btw, I heard a male version of Danny Boy the other day while previewing a random Celtic CD, and I thought it was terrible!) The more I listen to it, the more I like it, though, so maybe I will love it one day.
As for Melancholy Interlude, I've never counted the words, but I did notice the short length (was already familiar with the term "interlude"). I only wish there was a full-length version of it. It's just so beautiful, it makes me want to hear more! Definitely one of her best tracks, ever.
Santa Lucia has grown on me the most. When I got the CD, I skipped over that track a lot. Now, I actually skip to it sometimes. I often find that I feel differently about songs after I've had a CD for a while. Some songs I fall for instantly (and love them forever); others have to grow on me. (Thankfully, I never grow tired of any of them!)

Oh, and I definitely think Summer Rain is one of her best, too.

I also think "Melancholy Interlude" has some of the most amazing lyrics that Hayley has written, but I think much of its beauty is in its brevity. It is short and poignant for a reason and I'm sure that reason is to make you feel the way you do - wanting more! I remember Steve Abbott telling us about this track before the album was released. Apparently, Hayley finished writing it in her hotel room at some very late hour and rang Steve in his room to see if he was still up. He was, so Hayley trotted down to see what he thought of it. He was obviously impressed because he told us that he thought it was one of the best tracks on the album. Best wishes Grant

I voted for The Heart Worships. It's so beautiful. I also love Let Me Lie, Summer Rain, Whispering Hope, and Shenandoah. Oh, and Melancholy Interlude, although it's too short.

Well, Le Notte Del Silenzio was my first favourite song in this album (well, actually that makes it my first favourite Hayley song since this was my first album ) After I listened to the CD more, I really liked Summer Fly and Summer Rain too. In fact, since the CD was in the car, I'd skip to tracks 2, 6 and 12 every time I got in! But, after what, nearly 3 years? All the songs have really, really grown on me. I love Santa Lucia, Danny Boy and Sonny. Um, I'm a little ashamed to say I used to skip Abide With Me because I thought it was boring, but not any more! I think my opinion of the album has changed since I bought it because well, I've changed too haha. Grew up a bit. Learnt to appreciate it more cheers, Joanne

Hahaha. I always skip 'Abide with Me' as well. The beginning of that song bores me, but if I listen longer it is really a beautiful song. It is really hard to choose the one song I like. Cause I like many. Though sometimes there's just a moment I only listen to that one or two songs a lot. Now I like Santa Lucia and listen to it at least 20 times a day. Depends on the mood I suppose. I just ordered 'Treasure, Odyssey & Pure.' It'll take a few weeks before I have them all. They come in at different times (different shippings). I think I'll have Pure first... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifSharon

I actually pretty like "Abide With Me"... Though, it just takes some time to let it grow on you. It happened to me for many Hayley songs, like Dark Waltz and Whispering Hope.
And Sharon, Hopefully your CDs would arrive soon! and LOVE your banner! Very nice!
Cheers, Anshita

Actually, I wasn't too sure about Summerfly when I first heard it. I was a little bewildered at the fast lyrics, since I wasn't accustomed to Hayley singing such a song. But eventually I began to enjoy it more, and now I like it a lot.

Yes thats true. Though, I'm still not completely sure what the lyric means, haha... But the song is indeed amazing. I like it. I was quite thrilled though at first, to hear Hayley sing such a song.

Anshita, Hayley wrote about it in a track by track guide to Treasure! That can be found on her website, under Music And Video. cheers, Joanne
