Hi Folks, How do we best effect the chart position of the new release. Should we all buy from the same source in the same week to actively effect the chart position. Should we buy let's say six copies each and keep them as next years Christmas presents for friends and relatives. I notice the quoted price is quite low compared with average high street prices. Maybe we could orchestrate a buying campaign to make the release chart high. Anyone know the best way to do this ? comet Hello Comet, Great question. I think the most important things are to: 1) preorder the album from a major UK retailer (instore or online) such as Amazon UK, HMV, Virgin or one of the big Supermarkets. Preordering influences the shops when they decide how many to order and how high to place it in the first week's chart. A high first week's chart position is critical to selling a lot of albums. Do not order or buy from discount offshore retailers such as play.com as the only ones whose sales I know are included in the UK charts are the Channel Islands branches of UK mainland stores such as Amazon, HMV, Woolworths. The others (with no mainland operation) may not be counted! 2) Buy your copy(ies) on the first day it is released - Monday. This is because the early midweek trade charts include Monday's sales - and shops will use that chart position as well as their own Monday sales to decide how much stock to order for later in the week. 3) Buy multiple copies? Well yes of course, if you are so inclined - but I couldn't be so bold as to recommend that! However, IF you purchase several copies, don't get more than a couple from the same shop at the same time and if using a credit card don't use the same one each time! This is because the charts auditors may disallow bulk purchases, to stop "chart fixing". They would have no way of knowing if your purchases are genuine or by some agent of a record company trying to fix the chart - so they may not be counted. Prices: Supermarkets are almost certain to place Hayley's new album in the top 20 and hopefully in the top ten of their in-house charts on release day. This means that it will be priced at £9.99 or less - there is no need to pay more! Online prices will be dropped closer to the release date. Our target should be to get it into the top 5That's all for now but when we set up a new sub-board I will create a new thread about this very subject. I think it will be a thread to treasure! Cheers, Dave

On buying multiple copies, I would suggest downloading the album too!

Good idea Jon, downloads are cheaper! But to count for the album chart, it must of course be the entire album not selected tracks. The same words of caution on the use of credit cards and not using the same download store each time would still apply Cheers, Dave

Thanks Dave, So Amazon.co.uk. it is and pre order so the sale is on the first day of release.
AGREED ? Is that the plan ? anyone else for comment or agreement ?

Just tried amazon.co.uk Treasure does not seem to be listed yet. Do we assume it will be shortly and then order.

I need to know first what tracks will be on the UK version and how it differ from the international one first. I may have to import.

Hi everyone Thanks Dave for the low-down on how best to make an impression with the purchase of "Treasure" . Richard, I like the idea of the first to get hold of the tracklisting gets to post it on the forum - yes , think of the prestige !! I have to say though from past experience and unless I am really on the ball, it is more likely to be you that comes up with it first I must say that I do like the title. All three major albums have had 3 simple effective titles - Pure - Odyssey - Treasure, in my opinion anyway. My birthday is on the 18th, I think I will have my copy as a late birthday present ! Mark

WOW- the release date for Hayley's new CD is SO SOON! The cover looks great, it will be very exciting to hear the new CD. Maybe I will just have to buy the UK version while I'm here and the North American version when I'm home- If I could figure out how to do the special countdown thing that you guys do I would start one!! LOL Talk to you soon -Elizabeth

Regards, Andrew Hi Andrew, I searched for hidden treasure, and this is what I found : "Do not lay up treasures on earth for yourselves, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up treasures in Heaven for yourselves, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
