Hi,
I was going to say on (somewhere around the 181 post in The Buxton Opera House thread) how were people's year planning out?
Currently I'm in for: Fairfield Hall, Croydon. Buxton The June event with also 'All Angels' September in Truro (Killiow) but not yet sure which day, seems a pretty good skeleton on which to hang the year.
I am considering Llandudno as it is a great location--Orme's Head, the other side of it and the town itself. I recall being in the first row last time and she identified I was there and a couple of times looked directly into my eyes to say 'hi' in a way no one else would have known. It is also a fine arena.
I have never been to Ireland and would prefer Dublin, but a sea trip across for Belfast is interesting. Especially as Derry is now added but I think the key is as we try and encourage Hayley with her chocolate--all good things in fair measure!
If only I were the millionnaire I think I am instead of the plain Mr Micawber I actually am, when the sixpence always comes out the wrong side of the balance sheet!
Now I don't think we need new threads unless they are meaningful so here you are Grant, you can have a go at me again, I'm going off topic--Hayley's on the TV right now!
It is of course Hayley Mills after whom 'our Hayley' was named--her parents were as fascinated with her when they and she were children, just as I was.
It's a second series of 'Wild at Heart' (BBC!) I still find her attractive and remember especially 'Pollyanna' in which she really established herself, preceded, I think, by 'Tiger Bay' (now, wrongly, called 'Cardiff Bay'--the site not the film) and was particularly notable in the film her mother wrote 'Whistle Down the Wind' But that is sufficient digression!

Hi Peter, Buxton April Broadlands July Lincoln August June is a miss, the Japan tour, and Aberglasney Gardens on a Friday. A new venue in late May would be nice, and/or maybe some Christmas concerts again that I could get to. However it is taking shape Best Wishes, Graham

I left out Broadlands as I will need to extend my stay to see the house. Lincoln I know well and a former headmaster of my old school went on to be Dean of Lincoln. Henley was tempting as it brings back school memories of the rowing but the last time I was there was with an old school friend who had a lovely old Rover. This would never be allowed on the roads today. It could be switched in and out of manual gear to automatic as one pleased but we had soggy sandwiches sitting in his car with umbrellas up inside because it rained so hard and his roof was not waterproofed--nor was the glove compartment where we had stowed them when setting out! We spent a long time in the cinema seeing 'The Mouse That Roared' through three times waiting for the end of season fireworks! A film to which I later discovered my future brother-in-law's father had contributed much writing. Anyone else for entertaining reasons for going to (or not going to) a specific Hayley concert? Hi Peter, . . . . . . I left a section blank, so that I can later modify this post if when Hayley visits the USA north-east.
If not, I shall continue to support Hayley's concerts to my fullest capacity via this forum.

Hi Peter, Here is my list of Hayley concerts that I am definitely going to so far..... 5th April - Buxton Opera House, Buxton 20th April - Venue Cymru, Llandundo 3rd May - Jersey Opera House, Jersey 13th July - Orwell Park, Ipswich (with All Angels) 26th July - Broadlands, Romsey (With All Angels) 24th August - Lincoln Castle, Lincoln I am also considering Macclesfield but that depends if I can get back after or not, I don't drive and certainly don't want to book a hotel as I only live 17 miles away. I can also add to that list at least half a dozen All Angels concerts and a few others as well. Fortunately cost isn't really a problem for me, being single and still living at home on a full time job has it's advantages! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDazza

May - Classical Brits Awards Me too Stephany. Tickets are not on sale for this one yet but it shouldn't be long now as they went on sale last January for Brits 2007. I am keeping a daily watch. Best wishes Martin

Maybe you can come back over from Paris later in the summer for another concert or for a Christmas concert in December?

Hi All,
I think the secret here is not rush in and book too early if one is not 100% sure as sometimes a concert will be annouced later that would be more convenient.
Last year I booked Grassington and Llangollen very early and later concerts around June/July appeared that I did not want to miss.
Generally speaking I tend to book concerts in towns with easy access by train as by booking well in advance fares can be very cheap; have just got a good deal for Buixton.
Having said this however, I don't mind driving a long distance to open air venues as they are not usually near a train station and you need to bring chairs etc.
So far this year I intend to go to the following, Croydon Buxton Llandudno,if the tickets ever go on sale!! Belfast, easy to get to from Stansted Orwell Park Broadlands Lincoln Castle
More to come no doubt,
Gordon

Agreed, If the Llandudno tickets had gone on sale before the recent rush of announcements I would have got a early ticket. Now I can see better concerts for me and more equal spacings between ( Llandudno close to Buxton) Monday morning work would have been a big problem after a late Sunday night at Llandudno ( unless an unlikely afternoon performance?) A new concert middle/late May would also be worth waiting for. Graham
