First of all congratulations on your meteoric rise to stardom junior member!! Re the japanese track. There is a Japanese mini album called Weigenleid on which Hayley sings the same song three times - two different versions in German and one in Japanese. I read somewhere that even if she doesn't know a language, she likes to learn a little bit for an interview. In one interview she was given a Japanese delicacy to eat (seaweed, I believe) and she managed "This is delicious" in Japanese to the delight of her audience. It's little things like that that make our Hayley stand out from all the rest. Grant P.S. I've not seen Weigenlied on Ebay recently but Amazon may have it. Hi Grant, Thanks for the precision - I'll check out regularly Ebay to purchase the CD. I'll also take a look at Itunes. It's great to hear that she takes the time to learn a few words in several languages. I know someone who went to the Il Divo Concert in Paris and told me Hayley spoke some French. Apparently she was very good ! PS : thanks, being a junior member is a real honor! maybe in a few years time I'll reach your rank as well!

It might be worth mentioning that, whenever Hayley appears in concert in Wales, she always says a few words in Welsh. It may be little more than "good evening" but the audience love her for it.

I vote Italian, its the easiest to sing, no dipthongs, and lots of vowels to carry the voice! ..... TimJ

I can't choose!! But she's definitely gifted with languages. I heard she learnt French at school. Why doesn't she try one in French? Maybe THIS is the reason. EDIT : After a second thought, I voted for Maori. It's just so beautiful. And it's very...Hayley. Hi Stephany, Thanks for the laugh (from your story above)... lamp is shattered - thats classic ! All the best, Peter T PS: I love it when Hayley sings Maori. My least favourite is when she sings Italian (ie Santa Luchia)...

But Santa Lucia is an Italian song. Raymond I was going to say the same thing - but you were too fast for me, Raymond. I don't believe she has ever sang in Spanish. I could be wrong, though.

Seriously... thanks for correcting my mistake i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif... I guess I don't like the sound of Hayley singing Italian then

In related info, Hayley seemed to think in a similar way when talking about "Le Notte Del Silenzio". From Hayley's official site. But Hayley, this song is one of my favourite and I think you sing beautifully in Italian. Even though I can't get a word of what you're saying.

The majority of Hayley songs are in English yet only 5.8 percent of the respondents preferred that tongue. What does that tell you? Without attaching too much significance to a poll like this, I think it's a safe bet Hayley would have no trouble selling a half-Maori, half-Italian album.

Hi Steve,
I suspect the reason why only one member voted for English is because most of her songs are sung in English. That is not to say we don't like them but a poll like this tends to make people think about the alternatives and vote accordingly.

If her English-language songs were in the minority we'd probably favour them more, in hopes of hearing more. Hayley's Maori songs are unusually popular because that's the language in which she made her first impression for a substantial percentage of fans. "Pokarekare Ana" is her signature song, likely in the extreme to show up as the encore of first choice for the remainder of her career, much like Garland's "Over The Rainbow" followed her around for decades.

Hi Steve, it tells me that some members may have read the question as "Many songs, many foreign languages, Your favourite?". I have just voted for English It wins by a huge margin, for me. Cheers, Dave

I love all languages, and Hayley sings them all so beautifully.... but I think I will have to go with Maori, it is closely linked with Hayley, it is flowing and poetic and I am also half Kiwi myself Miriam xxx

Hi Miriam, Are you? I never knew that. In that case, it is no surprise that you voted for Maori. I have no such excuse, but so did I! Roger
