How about 'Wildwood Flower' - a song mostly done by the Carter family.
Not sure if it has been recommended before. But it's a beautiful song. Do you think the song could sound good without a southern US accent?
Reese Witherspoon's version from the 'Walk the Line' movie soundtrack is really good too.

Hi Jono, I love that song!! I think I may have even mentioned it in here myself! Great minds think alike! I would love to hear Hayley interpret it -- I think it being sung without an accent would really put a spin on it. I could imagine Hayley making it more folksy than country.

Just found it. You mentioned it in this thread in April this year...at least I can claim it was a month before I joined! This is actually the first song I've thought that I'd love to hear Hayley sing.... well I'd love to hear her sing everything, but nothing specific like this till now. I think you're right that Hayley's version would probably sound more folksy than country.....ah I really wanna hear her sing it now! Yeah we're geniuses!

Hmm, I'll have to look that one up. I agree, folksy is good for Hayley to do.

Hi folks I was lying in bed listening to my guitar music (on shuffle!), and came across a beautiful piece called 'Dirait-On', for a guitar quartet, by Morten Lauridsen. Some of you will speculate this, but I could just imagine Hayley singing a lovely vocal line over the top. Incidentally, it is the last song on the first CD of Classic FM's Summer Guitar! I think, with clever arranging, that this would be a lovely track for Hayley to turn to song form. I'l even take time out from uni to play the guitar parts! Cheers Ben

Hello Ben! I've found a vocal performance of Dirait-On: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeragubpHY4 This is definitely a perfect song for Hayley to sing accompanied by a choir. Richard

ANYTHING by the famous American composer GEORGE GERSHWIN. I think Hayley's voice would adapt well to his compositions. My favorite in the popular genre' is "Embraceable You" How ever there are many great songs she could do. "Someone To watch Over Me", "The Man I Love", etc

Anything by Ivor Novello or Noel Coward.
I'd love to hear her tackle some of the stuff from The Desert Song or Oklahoma, too.

Hi Graham, If you have Sky then Gods and Generals is currently being shown on TCM.It has been on itv1 twice with a late night slot due to its length. Hi Stephen, Thanks for that but it was no longer listed. However I managed to buy the DVD set ( with Gettysburg) ...Just found the time to see Gods and Generals.... 5 hours with the extras ! Really enjoyed it and looking forward to seeing Gettysburg ! Yes Mary Fahl 'Going Home' theme is good; it would suit Hayley. Come to think of it something about Mary reminds me of Hayley . Best Wishes, Graham

I already mentioned it, but I would love her to record again Schubert's Ave Maria with its original German lyrics...
And a more personal and rare wish is to hear her a song coposed as an anthem for Peace by a Catalan composer. "El cant dels Ocells", or "The song of the Birds".
