I don't know why, but I've got "send in the clowns" stuck in my head as a song I'd like Hayley to do. Dean One reason might be that some people have compared Hayley with Judy Collins Jon

Ah, Judy Collins! Didn't she once perform and possibly record a version of the Incredible String Band's song "The First Girl I Loved", retitiles "The First Boy I loved"? Never heard her version, but I have always loved the ISB song and the album from which it was taken is one of my favourites of all time. And there is some supberb guitar work by Robin Willianson. Could Hayley sing it? Not sure to be honest, it wouldn't particularly suit her voice I think, but it is the sort of song she might take a liking to. Or not!

I recently heard a song from the soundtrack to Gods and Generals. The song is Going Home by Mary Fahl. It is so beautiful and so touching - I think Hayley would make it even more special. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yVyo5Ej8Ns

Hi Sonata,
Yes, it's very nice. When I first saw the song title, I assumed it was the song recorded by many, the melody of which is borrowed from Dvorak's New World Symphony. Much as I like that, I was pleasantly surprised to find this is an entirely different song.
Mary, voice is very distinctive and suits the song well. I'm not so sure that Hayley's would but it would be interesting to hear.

Hi everyone
I think Hayley will be good at singing these - it certainly suits her 'classical crossover' status! Some of these songs are duets, but the female vocal part, to me, seems to suit Hayley's style of singing:
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - Please Read The Letter Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris - any song from 'All The Road Running' Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
Cheers

I think a collaboration with Sir James Galway would be great, I really like his music and I think with Hayley vocals it would create a fantastic album.

I'm glad someone mentioned Mary Fahl. Been a fan of hers for years, but she can't seem to get that second solo album out and no one seems to have heard of her. :/ She has a distinctive voice and style. I still don't know what to categorise her under! Love her version of 'Una Furtiva Lagrima'. It rivals Izzy's.

I'd like to see a revival of 'Morning Has Broken'. Of all the tracks on Hayley's early albums that was one which came out and smacked me in the face as fantastic. Also, 'Love Changes Everything'. There was some great material on those early albums which I think needs to see the light of day again.

I agree Jillian.
And for me, top of the list would be "Eternal Flame".

It's kind of boring. I don't know the 2nd one. And... Maroon 5? And that song? Not so crazy about that idea, either. And to Jillian and Martin: While I would love to hear her sing those older songs nowadays, I also want to see new songs on her new albums. Eternal Flame is okay, but again, the more new, original songs, the better, along with some Irish and Maori folk, classical, and hymn/worship-type songs.

I´d still love to hear her cover something by The Corrs. Songs like Runaway, Closer and many others would be quite lovely I think.
