Hi people
I discovered Hayley when I was surfing Youtube and looking through video's of New Zealand, as the scenery in New Zealand is breath-taking. I came across one video that was a slideshow of major landmarks in the country, and it was accompanied by 'Let Me Lie'. I immediately forgot about looking at pictures and started listening hard to the beautiful voice coming from my speakers. I thus typed in 'Hayley Westenra' on the iTunes store, and listened to some of the 30 second excerpts and I though 'wow!'
This thus made me buy 5 albums immediately! To some this may seem extreme, but where is the harm in buying alot of something that is going to brilliant?
My only regret is that I didnt find Hayley's music 6 years ago! I feel like I've missed so much!
Cheers!
Ben

This is in reply to Comet's question to me on the "Mime or not to Mime" thread: I saw Hayley in the parade, but I didn't know the difference whether she was "miming" or not. I can't remember which song she sang, because I wasn't quite as familiar with her music as I am now (my dad was a fan before I was). now that is interesting, does he still follow her career ?, do you keep him up to date ? does he get to hear the items you get to hear ? does he have a Hayley sticker on his car ? No, he doesn't still follow her career much anymore, and no sticker on his car. He's not the bumper sticker type; he always talks about how it looks bad if you ever try to pull them off. He still enjoys her singing, and has heard many of her songs, but he doesn't start playing any of her CDs on his own, or even request to hear her. He doesn't really have time to sit down and relax, though, that's part of the problem. But he thinks I'm obsessed; he's accused me of "stalking" her! He read about her in an AARP magazine (retirement program), and he was impressed with her singing. I'm sure this was in 2004, because it was the same time I first became a fan of Josh Groban. My dad would visit her website and mostly only play Who Painted the Moon Black and Pokarekare Ana clips. WPTMB was his favorite, and my sister kind of liked it, too. I thought Hayley sounded nice, but WPTMB wasn't amazing to me, as far as vocals went. I preferred higher, soprano notes. Pokarekare Ana had that, but it was strange to me (at first!). At that point, I liked Josh Groban, and Charlotte Church, somewhat. But other than that I was not into crossover that much. He received her album Pure for his birthday, so I got to hear more of her then. Unfortunately, he isn't one to play music all the time, and again, I still wasn't quite into crossover enough to listen to it on a regular basis. Later on, I caught the end of her Live from NZ show on PBS, while awaiting Josh's Live at the Greek performance, which was on next. I was disappointed that I'd missed the whole show, but I didn't think much of it afterwards (too distracted by Josh i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif ). I also saw her on the Macy's parade. In both of those instances, though, I could hardly believe it was Hayley, since all I'd seen of her before was the Pure photo shoot, where she had dark hair. I didn't know what she really looked like. Finally, in August 2005, I decided to visit CC's website to see what she was up to, and was put off by her "issues" album. Next, I went to Hayley's site. What a difference!! Never Saw Blue was the prettiest song I'd ever heard! I liked the sound of the other songs, too. I got her album at the library, then eventually got my own copies, the U.S and special UK versions. And the rest is history! I didn't visit her forums till Treasure, though. Hey, I think the poll needs to be updated.
