Now that I'm learning German, I finally know how to pronounce that title! LOL Hi Libby, Lovely to see you here - I haven't logged on here for a few days either. By the way I learned how to pronounce "Wiegenlied" properly the hard way... After Hayley corrected my mispronunciation in person, so there!!! Andrew

Haha, she would have corrected me, too.
Just to confirm, it's "Vee-gen-leed", right? I'm not sure which syllable has the emphasis, though, but I would guess the first syllable?

And I know exactly what you've said without translating it, although I struggle with the whole sour lips pucker on u's with an umlaut over them. For example, Zurich is one of my top destinations for German-speaking cities, but I struggle with the proper pronunciation (I'm currently, or maybe forever, obsessed with Switzerland, though!). You'd probably laugh to see my list for places to visit in Switzerland, because I would never be able to visit them all in one trip. It grows by the day, since I follow Switzerland tourism sites on social media. LOL

Thanks for the information Andrew, this brought back some memories! I'll tell you what, bored as I sometimes am during this lockdown, I might even have a go at synchronizing the uploaded Wiegenlied audio (which is good) with the other video I have from the same tour, which has much better video. That one was encoded by our sadly long lost friend Gerrit Kroeze back in 2004, though I cannot be certain that he recorded the video hiumself. I don't know which venue it was, only that it was the Winter Tour and not Manchester. Hayley sung the two performances at slightly different speeds or pause lengths, so I don't know if I can do it but I may try. Just to see if I can! Dave

This is way off-topic, I know, and I could probably find it if I searched the forum. But, did the Il Divo tour with Hayley include anywhere in Switzerland? I've also been looking up Liechtenstein. It's a quite fascinating little country... it's only one of 2 countries that is double-landlocked, AND they don't have an airport or even a train station! And apparently you can reach Switzerland in minutes just by walking from Vaduz, the capital!

I can't wait to see the fruit of your labour with this... I'm sure you can nail it!!! I haven't seen Gerrit Kroeze's "Wiegenlied" video so this will be most interesting indeed. I will be monitoring this space regularly. BTW I will send you a PM in a few mins. Thanks Andrew

Hi Dave (and everybody else here!) Ok... So it seems that the other video recording of "Wiegenlied" was filmed at St David's Hall in Cardiff on Saturday 13th November, 2004. So that was the 2nd Concert of the Winter "Pure" Tour (the 1st Concert was in Birmingham Symphony Hall, the night before). That also means the recording was filmed 2 days before Hayley played in the Edinburgh Usher Hall. Sadly the link to the video doesn't seem to be working... Is that because the video has been archived Dave? How impatient am I? Thanks. Andrew

Hi Andrew,
That link is from Gerrit's personal website hwi.net which has sadly long been gone from the internet. He was happy for me to download selected videos from there while it was still up and running and that is where I obtained my copy from and is why I do of course credit him for it.
Many thanks for finding the very post I needed, to identify the Cardiff venue!
Dave
