During more or less ten minutes, he talked about his personality, his book and his next project. He started recording it yesterday in Abbey Road. He added that he was working on this project with a big orchestra. So far, everything's going very well according to him though he didn't mention Hayley Westenra, who's supposed to be the vocalist.

Mike Oldfield was on Classic FM last night, talking to Anne-Marie Minhall on the Guest List. He talked about recording 'Music of the Spheres' at Abbey Road studios with an orchestra and a choir, but again he didn't mention Hayley.

According to Universal and Tubular.net, Mike Oldfield's album 'Music of the Spheres' is complete and currently being mastered. It is still unknown if Hayley is associated to this project or not.
I don't even know how this rumour actually started

Apparently the rumour of Hayley's participation started because she was spotted recording something in Abbey road studios the very same day Mike Oldfield was working on 'Music of the Spheres'.
Only time will tell I guess.

The singer of New Zealand Hayley Westenra is involved beside Karl Jenkins and an orchestra likewise in Mike Oldfield's new album with the title "Music Of The Spheres". The orchestra photographs already took place in the Londoner Abbey Road of studios.

I'm working on a translation but I can already tell you that they don't know for sure if Hayley is really associated to this project. The first line of the article is : Hayley Westenra, soprano singer rumoured to be on Mike Oldfield's latest album.

Hayley Westenra was born on April 10, 1987 in Christchurch, New Zealand. It became clear that she was musically gifted and was encouraged to study music (violin, piano, recorder, singing) when she was 6. She recorded a promo sampler at 12 and is quickly spotted by the NZ press. She signed a contract with Universal New Zealand and recorded a solo album in 2001.

She then signed a contract with Decca Records (Universal group) and recorded another album, 'Pure', in 2003. It was her first album to be distributed internationally. It's a CD of classical, light pop and traditional Maori songs. It became the fastest-selling debut album in the history of the UK classical charts. Two million copies were sold partially thanks to the way she was promoted (television and young audience - Hayley sang on the soundtrack of Mulan 2).

Based in London, Hayley Westenra recorded 'Odyssey' in 2005, an album influenced by celtic music (with a mix of classical, pop and new age music). She also joined the group Celtic Woman and recorded the album 'A New Journey' with them. She toured with the group around the US in 2007.

In February 2007, at only 19, she released her third international solo album: 'Treasure' ('Celtic Treasure' in other countries). The album features original songs written by Hayley herself but also songs like 'Danny Boy' that Mike Oldfied's father used to sing while playing the guitar for his children.

Hayley is said to be working on 'Music of the Spheres', Mike's latest album. She was rumoured to be seen working with Mike Oldfied and Karl Jenkins on June 6.

Hayley Westenra's voice is close to celtic voices like Loreena McKennitt's and Enya's even though she is talented enough to include classical music to her repertoire. Her music is a mix of McKennitt's musical atmosphere (sumptuous melodies) and classical.
