To my knowledge, Hayley has sung in English, Maori, Italian, German, Japanese, Gaelic and, of course, Elvish but never in French!! Hi Grant, yes... and to that list we can now add Floodish - or is it Wisemanish? But i haven't yet found a Google translator for that one! Cheers, Dave

Technically tho Dave, Wouldn't the whole of 'Flood' be defined as "vocalisation" ? It doesn't just have to confine itself to la la la s does it? Graeme

Wiegenlied – Having recorded “Bist Du Bei Mir” for Treasure this is another German piece with great phrasing by Hayley. We now have HW recordings in German, Italian and French – is there no limit to her linguistic talents? Martin Just out of interest, Martin, the title Wiegenlied was spelt Wegenlied on my Mp3 titling derived from itunes as it produces them off the CD. That makes the song title read, instead of "Cradle Song", it would be the "Because Of Song" Only one letter is enough to wreck it. Graeme

Graeme Hi Graeme, Well I think it depends on whether Hayley is singing without words... if Debbie wrote some words down for Hayley (and if they mean something!) then it could be the genesis of a new language. I can definitely hear Hayley singing words - well I like to think so, anyway! Cheers, Dave

Hi Folks, Are Benedictus and some of the variations of the Ave Maria in Latin ? Hi Comet, Yes they are.... the words to Ave Maria is the original Latin version of the Hail Mary prayer that you probably know. Btw, I think we're a bit off topic here, because neither of the songs you mentioned is on the Prayer album. Then again, as I said..... Ave Maria IS a Prayer.... Jeroen

I think that's correct Martin. Quanta Qualia is also in Latin.
Best wishes Grant

I also wonder if she has sung the French National Anthem at any matches? Maybe we could add Portuguese to the list for Bachianas Brasileiras? James

Guys, we are seriously drifting off-topic there! What about Welsh (national anthem) - see page 6 of the book. Very good point, James. It is absolutely true! I also wonder if she has sung the French National Anthem at any matches? Unfortunately, she hasn't. You can see a video of Hayley singing her anthem followed by the 'Marseillaise' HERE.

Yay I just had shopping spree over at amazon.co.uk. 'Prayer' is available...at about $35...but it included a special price on 'In Her Own Voice" book. (I also bought both the 'Pure' and 'Odyssey' songbooks!) Joe

Best wishes Grant Hi Grant, I'm no musical Guru but, as far as I understand it Bachianas Brazilieras is an Aria because its sung by a solo voice, but it is a vocalisation because it is sung devoid of words. source below: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocalise"The first, slow movement of Heitor Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 (1938) features a soprano aria over a cello ensemble, which evolves into an extended vocalise that floats over a pizzicato accompaniment." I know we all had a lot to say on this topic when Hayley performed her Scarborough Fair with a beautiful vocalisation together with the guitar in the pause between verses. hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Media&action=display&thread=1178396085&page=2#1178692931Most of us will have the Melbourne Herald-Sun video clip of this musical event. It's particularly significant to me because I witnessed her singing the same arrangement about an hour after she sang at the Melbourne H-S. I knew there was something very different about it but didn't know what it was.....Hayleywowsation perhaps?? So I'm really reminding myself here too Grant. I so quickly forget. Graeme
