Hello Alegria Thank you for the link, it was a very interesting interview, we now know Hayley enjoyed Sicily and loves being the 'tourist' in all of us. Hayley also said she will start recording her next album in November, and expects its release in March April time. Thanks again Steve H

Hi Lindsay, it's good to see you are still popping in to see us from time to time! Thanks for the link to that interview, it is longer than I expected (5 minutes) and especially interesting as it contains some new information from Hayley - Sicily trip, Belgian (& European?) release date for her next album of March/April. Also, she mentioned that her vision of her next album is classically based, like most of her other albums, with a folksy feel, a kind of filmic, expansive sound, quite lush and with soaring melodies. Interesting! The more I listen to the clip of Sparkle in your Eyes the more I like the way Hayley sings in it. I can well envisage her singing more songs in that style in the future, I think it suits her voice very well. It would also get her some airplay, for example, in the UK on Radio 2 and perhap in other countries too (obviously in NZ!). You can watch the interview bigger (whatever size you make Internet Explorer) and without the rest of the webpage by clicking on this link here. Cheers, Dave

Hi All, Alegria and Dave, many thanks for your details re: the 'Helmut Lotti' link... Hayley described 'There's a Sparkle in Your Eyes'... as "Cutesy, Cheeky" :je Heh-heh I love it! According to the interviewer 'Odyssey' is Hayley's "Magical Album" and "one of his favourites"... I wonder what he would have said if Hayley had asked him which song was his favourite on 'Odyssey'?" He would probably have said "Odyssey" !!!! :je I liked the interviewer's very relaxed and friendly manner with Hayley Regards, Andrew

Hello again everyone, Well I thought I should find out how Helmut (and Hayley!) are doing in the charts. The Crooners was released in Europe at the end of September and since then, it's reached no. 1 in Belgium (of course - Hayley's on it!) with a Platinum disc, no. 19 in the German charts and no. 38 in the overall European Top 100. It is slightly lower this week but it's still in the charts of Belgium, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden and The Netherlands. Information with thanks to Chartsurfer.de Skynet.be and Billboard.com. Here is the Belgian Chart for last week, which seems to be the official one (select 14 Oktober or earlier, from the dropdown list). Helmut Lotti has had fifteen albums in the German pop chart starting in 1998 plus a couple of collaborations with Domingo and Sarah Brightman - that's an average of two a year! Not bad for an "old crooner" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Now, thinking caps on, everyone!!! This may be the very first time Hayley has performed on a number 1 album in an official pop chart, outside of her homeland New Zealand. Can anyone think of any others? Unless you can, I think this calls for a celebration! Thank you Helmut... and [glow=blue,5,1500] Congratulations, Hayley![/glow] Cheers, Dave PS: I shall now move this thread to Hayley's "Other Albums" sub-board, as (I can now see) was hinted at by Drew shortly after he started the thread... I've slighty changed the thread title accordingly.

Alegria (Lindsay), You're wonderful. Thankyou. Just watched the clip...excellent. My wife & I play 'There's a sparkle.....' at least once a day. There's a copy in the car I can see too. It's sort of old fashioned romantic...rather an innocent song. Helmut & Hayley's voices are really beautiful together. Dave, Thanks too! very interesting to find the European Chart's reaction to that sort of album. Graemek PS I'm not sure If I can translate 'cutesy cheeky' into German let alone Belgian. Thomas what do you think??

Hello Lindsay and Dave! Thanks for the link. I kept getting a message "This page cannot be displayed', but after I'd given up I decided to try once more and it worked! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIt's a nice interview, and now I want the CD. I've seen some of Helmut's albums in HMV on import, so I'll keep a lookout for 'The Crooners'. Best Wishes, Richard

Cheers, Dave 'filmic' Does that mean 'like in the movies' or just 'very thinly distributed'?? Explain Hayley or somebody please. graemek

Filmic is what I heard Hayley say but I can't guarantee it! But if it is, it's probably an entertainment industry thing, a bit of jargon creeping into the language? See dictionary.reference.com/browse/filmic - I like the following definition: and I think Hayley meant definition 2, i.e. characteristic of film/movie sound tracks. This could make the next album even more exciting than we already expect! Cheers, Dave

Hello Graeme, Dave, Andrew and everybody! Don't forget, Hayley has already had some experience of recording songs for film soundtracks, notably 'The Merchant of Venice', 'Mulan 2' and 'The New World', so perhaps she hopes to include a song or two of this genre. To keep on topic, looking at the tracklisting for disc 2 of 'The Crooners', some of these songs have appeared in films too:- For example, 'Hello Dolly' features in the film of the same name, 'Moon River' comes from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', and 'True Love' was sung by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly in 'High Society'. I'm not a movie expert, but I'm quite good with Google! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hi Drew, I thought I'd seen that very classy black sparkly dress before. She wore it while singing 'Both sides now' in a Canadian ice rink late 2005. She also performed 2 duets with Bocelli on that same evening but not wearing this same dress. Have a look: Your description is still correct...it's virtually new!!P.S. Far be it from me to trigger off the very female response: 'Oh that old thing.....' i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Graemek
