Thanks to Sal, I've noticed that Hayley's official website has just announced that a new digital single will be released by Hayley on March 27th 2006. It is "The Water is Wide" and is taken from the UK special edition of Odyssey to be released two weeks later on Hayley's birthday, April 10th! Judging by the short clip on the official website News Page here, this will be a lovely recording and it *may* gain Hayley some much needed airplay on mainstream radio in the run-up to the Odyssey SE launch. Well I hope so anyway! Incidentally, the official site use the words digital "single" not "track" and this often means that a second track will be bundled with the main track (like the "B" side of a CD single). It will be interesting to see if this is what Decca are going to do. Dave PS I haven't started a sub board for this at the moment but if necessary, it will be done at a later date.

Hi Dave, I have just received a copy of a sampler CD which includes The Water is Wide and Scarborough Fair, they both sound FANTASTIC! The other two items on the CD are Lascia Chio Pianga and the Duet with Andrea Boceli - Dell Amore Non Si Sa. Just for info here are pictures of the sleeve. Front. Rear. If this is not on topic enough for this thread please move it to a more suitable Home. Incidentally there is another 5 track sampler out with the following tracks on, 1PRAYER 2DELL 'AMORE NON SI SA 3O MIO BABBINO CARO 4QUANTA QUALIA 5MAY IT BE, it has exactly the same front cover. Best Wishes Steve H

What's the difference between a single and a digital single? Single = you get the CD Digital single = you download the songs off a website = you don't get the CD and quality won't be as good as CD Not sure why Decca decided to go with the digital single route Thanks for the scans, Steve! Very nice and more importantly, classy covers for the CD sampler. Interesting fact about Hayley playing the piano intro, that was a bit unexpected. Wonder if Hayley will pick up the violin and play it during one of her live performances i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAllen

Does anyone else notice an unusual academic and scientific preoccupation in Hayley's music?
She sings about the universe, the moon, Bronte characters, geometry, and now ... the fact that water is wide.
Scientifically speaking, water is the essence of wide. Its status as a polar molecule makes it a wide-ranging solvent, one that allows a wide variety of molecules to interact in a wide variety of ways. Also, water remains liquid at a wide range of temperatures. Scientists are now theorizing that water may be widely distributed about the solar system, showing up in comets, moons, asteroids and planets.
Hayley recording "The Water is Wide" is also a textbook case of irony. The lyrics address the barrier of great distance, yet she routinely flies over the widest oceans for work.
We know about the Mozart effect on babies' brain development. Maybe exposure to Hayley's songs will similarly create a generation of super-achieving scientists and philosophers.

I think you may be reading a bit too much into Hayley's music, Steve.

I asked if we might one day see her playing either the piano or violin in concert. She doubted that she would play violin but she explained she was more confident on the piano so, "maybe"! If her playing is now to appear on CD, hopefully it is only a question of time before we see her in concert tickling the ivories! Roger

Hi everyone! Wow, beautiful scans! Thanks for posting them to the forum! Joe, great job on finding out the piano intro was by Hayley. It came as a very pleasant surprise, and, listening to the clip again, her playing is lovely. I wonder if she actually played it as she sang, or recorded the piano bit first, and layered her voice over that. Oksana

Thanks Oksana,
I am starting a thread on the Miscellaneous board for CD Samplers as it is clear that this is the way DECCA are going to proceed in the future to get the maximum pre release publicity.
If there are any further comments regarding the sampler Cd's rather than the Digital single, 'The Water is Wide' please post them against the new thread.
Take care all!
Steve H

Hi people.. I'm new to this forum, although I've been a fan of Hayley's for some time now...
I just wanna ask if is there any way to get hold of that CD sampler? Hayley performed The WAter is Wide in public for the first time when I was in Melbourne, Florida for her concert last Friday. Been trying to look for that CD.
