I have listed 20 of the most likely favourites but, if yours is not included, please vote for "OTHER" and tell us who it is. I like most of Beethoven's symphonies and quite a lot of Mozart's works but my favourite composer is, without doubt, Dvorak. I love all his symphonies (not just the New World), the Cello Concert, Slavonic Dances, String Quartets and more. His depiction of his homeland and especially the city of Prague within his music seems more realistic than that of any other composer IMHO. Most importantly, his music is always cheerful. Members of orchestras have said they love performing Dvorak for that reason. Your turn! Roger

I can't choose between Dvorak and Bach...
I guess it would be Bach. Crossover artists have done so much with his work. It's easily accessible and I think he has written the most beautiful pieces. I particularly like Air on G String and Tocotta. I don't really like the Ave Maria's, but his version is by far the best one, and the only one I actually enjoy. I also like some Beethoven, but if I'm honest, I do not know too much of his work. I love Figaro.

Hello Roger and everybody! I nearly voted for Mozart, but then I remembered a composer who isn't on the list - Rossini. I like his sense of humour, and his operas are the only ones I really enjoy listening to. I'm hoping Hayley might sing some of his arias when she's older! Best Wishes, Richard

Good point, Richard. I think Rossini is sometimes underrated. Everyone knows the William Tell Overture but there are many more of his works that are well worth a listen. I have a few of his String Quartets, including one CD on which they are arranged for wind instruments. Roger

I tend not to listen to any classical composers 'specifically' although I do enjoy listening to classical music.
My particular favourites are:-
Albinoni: For his adagio's Smetna: For Ma Vlast

Hi Grant,
I considered both of them for the original list but, having decided to limit it to 20, they didn't quite make it. Cartainly, 'Ma Vlast' is brilliant.

I had to go with Mozart due to the breadth and quality of his work throughout his life, but a close second for me would be Gilbert and Sullivan, although I guess many might not consider them to be classical composers.

I voted "other" because Béla Bartók is my fave. If you listen to his Concerto for Orchestra you'll know why.

I'm going to go with Prokofiev. His music just feels like mother Russia. Woody Allen used this to good effect in his movie Love and Death. I must also admit to being taken in by the great Wagnerian overtures, though he was a much better composer than human being. And on the American front, Aaron Copeland captured the essence of this country beautifully. But on this survey, my vote goes to Prokofiev.

I voted Other, because my favourite composer has for a long time now been Sibelius. I consider his symphonic poem Finlandia the most beautiful piece of music I have heard. Undoubtedly that will change at some stage ....
My second favourite piece of music happens to be Tchaikovsky's 1812 ouverture - but Tchaikovsky is not my second favourite composer - that's Antonin Dvorak, because there's a wider range of music written by him that I like - New World Symphony, Cello Concerto.
Two other favourite pieces are Smetana's Ma Vlast amd Joaqiun Rodrigo's Concerto Serenata for Harp (his Concerto de Aranjuez is better known, but I prefer the harp concerto.
