Hi all,
today I’ve got the CD „The Visit“ by Loreena McKennitt from a pretty lady. She is a student in my form. I think this is a fantastic music, a little bit like Enya. Who knows Loreena McKennitt and what are your impressions about her music?
Many greetings, Lothar

Hi Lothar! A few months ago I didn't know Loreena McKennitt. But then I heard a lot about the song "The Mummer's Dance". Some of us from the forum who have heard Hayley sing this song were amazed. I saw a video of Hayley sing this song in Cadogan Hall in June. So I started looking for "The Mummer's Dance" in the internet and discovered the original from Loreena McKennitt. I like the song very much so I started browsing for her music in iTunes. I downloaded the albums "Elemental", "The Book of Secrets", "The Mask and Mirror" and "The Visit". All albums are fantastic!!! I can recommend to buy also her other albums if you like "The Visit". Thomas

I've been listening to alot of Loreena McKennitt's music lately via youtube, and I really want to buy some of her CDs.
Other than ebay, does anyone know a good website to purchase her music?

As far as good websites go, I know some of her stuff is on iTunes if you don't mind having only a digital copy (I know I'd rather have an actual CD). Loreena McKennitt's website, www.quinlanroad.com, also has a shopping section... the CDs themselves seem slightly cheaper ($12 US for A Mid Winter Night's Deam), although I'm not sure how the shipping is. The site also has an interesting deal going at the moment... if you buy an actual CD, you get access to a digital download of all the tracks... so you don't have to wait for the CD to arrive to listen to the music!

I didn't realise Hayley did a version of The Mummer's Dance! Which album is it on?

Hi Lewie,
You can find the Mummer's dance on the exclusive Wal Mart edition of Celtic Treasure. Mummer's dance is also on Pure Special Asian edition, and you can find the song on Pure Australian editon , with Bonus discs. For further information see in album threads. Greetz JOYCE

Hi Lewie,
ER.. pass. I don't have it on an album, but I have heard her perform it live a couple of times. Also, you can find it on YouTube. [link removed for copyright reasons - Roger]
There are also one or two amateur videos available in various concert threads on HWI (or were).

Reviving an old thread here! But I just bought a ticket to see Loreena in San Antanio! Excited to see her...never thought I would. For any other fans, she is touring TX & West Coast this March. And plans for Europe on July/August. Nice weekend trip to look forward to!

Reviving an old thread here! But I just bought a ticket to see Loreena in San Antanio! Excited to see her...never thought I would. For any other fans, she is touring TX & West Coast this March. And plans for Europe on July/August. Nice weekend trip to look forward to! I saw she was coming to the Paramount theatre in Seattle a few months ago, and since I didn't have anything else planned for 2016 (since that was before I booked the Josh Groban or Andrea Bocelli tickets!), I considered going. But as soon as I saw the ticket prices, my decision was made. Definitely NOT. They're as expensive as the Andrea Bocelli tickets in the front section at the Key Arena (and I did not purchase front section tickets there)! Even the balcony seats are outrageously-priced! This is the same reason that, the last time I considered going to a Celtic Woman concert, I didn't end up going because the Paramount theatre seemed to have gotten suddenly extremely expensive! I'd gone to 2 CW concerts there previously, and they were not quite that expensive then. Now, if it was Hayley, I'd go no matter how much it was (within some amount of reason), but this has me hoping that when (yes, when!) she comes to my area, she will not go to the Paramount in Seattle, but instead go to one of the theatres in Tacoma. That's where I saw Orla Fallon, and the price for the front row was excellent. In comparison to the Paramount's prices lately, it was a huge bargain! While it would've been nice to see Loreena, I really don't know many of her songs, so I'm not really that disappointed. I have plenty of other exciting things to attend this year, so I'm hardly suffering. LOL

Yes, that's it. I remember the first time I ever saw Hayley saying to my companions after the show "I'm glad I got to see her while the tickets were still affordable". And Hayley was someone I'd only vaguely heard of before the concert. I'm actually very surprised and pleased that tickets for Hayley's concerts still are affordable.

Martin D I wonder what the difference is at the Paramount in their prices? Since I'd seen CW already and not been appalled by the prices, I wouldn't think it had much to do with the artist. My tickets at the table in Madison was not very expensive, even though the table seats were the best seats.
