I was rummaging around on Youtube last night since I am in a Lorenna kick right now. Anyways, found this new interview she did during her European Tour this spring. In the first 1.30 minutes, she mentions 2 recording projects. One is an unreleased songs that didn't make it on an album project & a larger project for the next installment in the journey of the Celts in India(?!). Next year or so for the bigger project!

The song titles on the new album look interesting to say the least, first time I ever saw the word "hence" in a song title. I don't think I will be able to go to any of her concerts, but I did dig out her Alhambra DVD from the boxed set, that will have to do me for the time being. considering all the Celtic and Irish content and references in Loreena's music, she even mentions during the Alhambra concert that she had been cycling on Raglan Road in Dublin, (A Road I used to cycle along daily when I was at school) but I don't think she has ever done a concert in Ireland.
Here is a version of Raglan Road written by Patrick Kavanagh and sung by Luke Kelly

The Alhambra DVD is beautiful Paul, I agree. If nothing else you have a new album to listen to here shortly. And there is Youtube, even though that is nothing like being in the middle of the action. I just saw this on Loreena's website, that the "Lost Souls" tour will happen from October 2018 to some time in 2020. Also, she is doing in-store appearances in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Amsterdam this month to promote the new album. And if you are part of her email/community, she is releasing a Word & Music podcast on Friday!

Wow, that's a long tour! I hope to see her again at some point on this tour! Read that they were going to be touring off and on through the next 2 years like she has done with the Trio Tour. The first stop is South America. Found 2 articles about the new album: Billboard articleSpill FeatureAs for new music after Lost Souls: "It continues to morph each passing day, almost too dangerous to time," McKennitt says. "I took a wonderful trip (to India) to start working on this and got plenty of inspiration, and I would love to feel I can go and do another. It's very interesting but very challenging because of the way the music business has changed so much in the last 10 years or so, when we released Ancient Muse. The creative side is the least of my worries; It's more, 'Is there going to be a proper return for the time and money invested in this. Will people actually BUY something when it's put out?' So there's much to study and learn and evaluate." "This may be my last recording,” comments McKennitt. “There is a price you pay for staying in the game, as my own manager and my own label there is a workload issue. The game has changed.” There is a pause. “But you know, never say never.” That last quote really scares me! Bad translation I hope. Love to read your thoughts! Also, who has heard the new album? Still waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail. Been checking like everyday.

The game has changed.” There is a pause. “But you know, never say never.” That last quote really scares me! Bad translation It would seem a lot of artists are feeling the same way about the Music Industry. I'm still one of those people who wants to buy the CD, direct from the artist after the concert suits me fine, cash straight into the artists hand. I got the impression that was how Chloe (Ex Celtic Woman) was doing the business recently, getting the petrol money she referred to it as. The last few cds I bought have been at the concert venue, Eddi Reader, Freddie White and some others I can't recall the names at the moment. At least you know that the artist is getting the money, not all the middlemen and parasites involved in the "Music Industry" I got most of my Lorena McKennitt cds from cd.connection they still have a large number of her titles listed. They are based in Sunnyvale California as far as I could make out. They box the cds carefully and are very good to deal with, one of my first ever orders for cds went astray in the post and they sent out a replacement parcel at no charge..... what more can I say, an excellent company to deal with. They still stock Hayley Westenra as well. and the River of Dreams with Majesty on it.

It seems that in the Spring I get into a Loreena kick, and this year is no different. Been playing her music a lot when I'm work and relaxing getting ready for bed. Anyways, this popped up when I was wondering what Loreena was up to. Stratford LivestreamLast interview: Loreena Harp PodcastI have also enjoyed getting her monthly emails the last few months. Has anyone read the books mentioned in the news letters? Here is to hoping we get a few more surprises this year.
