Hi Kimberly,
I have just got around to playing the videos and I am really impressed. Ideally, I would like to hear a little more but, as her CD is out in just two days' time, I think I will just buy it.

Here is a artice on her. icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk/mail/whatson/tm_objectid=16332364&method=full&siteid=50002&headline=luvverly-star-role-for-amy-name_page.htmlLuvverly star role for Amy Nov 4 2005 SHE is best known as bitchy sex kitten Chloe Atkinson in the TV soap Emmerdale but next week Amy Nuttall returns to her first love at Birmingham Hippodrome - musical theatre. "I've always enjoyed singing and musicals are what I always wanted to do," says the 23-year-old flame-haired beauty who takes the role of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. "When I was younger I won a scholarship to study musical theatre and during that time I auditioned for Les Miserables just to see what auditions were like. When they saw me I was offered the understudy role of Christine in Phantom of the Opera. I said 'Are you sure you have the right person?' "It changed my life. I left school and was with Phantom for two years, taking the lead role on stage around 30 times." As with her Phantom of the Opera job there was a touch of luck when it came to Amy gaining her role in Emmerdale. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT "I asked my agent to look into getting me an audition for a TV show, again just for the experience," she says. "Emmerdale was the first thing that came along and I was offered the job. That was four-and-a-half years ago and time has just flown by. "But I knew I couldn't stay in a soap, there's a danger of being typecast. Casting directors can be very narrow-minded and tend to pigeonhole you. "I'd never say I'd never do another soap - but if I was in another it would probably be Coronation Street because it's set in the north and I'm from Bolton." Not only is Amy launching a new phase of her acting career in My Fair Lady, she's also mounting an assault on the charts with an album, Best Days, released on November 14. She was signed to EMI Classics after appearing on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes as Sarah Brightman performing Time To Say Goodbye. Best Days is a mix of old and new songs, ranging from the folk of Scarborough Fair and Greensleeves to the balladry of Neil Young's Fields Of Gold and the operatic Io Le Canto Per Te. "I'm quite an odd one when it comes to describing my music," she laughs. "I'm not opera, but I'm not pop. I suppose you could say I was classical crossover." Amy will be taking a little time out from My Fair Lady to promote her album, with the Eliza role being taken by West End actress Lisa O'Hare. Says Lisa: "I will be doing two shows a week and Amy will be doing six. It's brilliant, and the best way, really, for a role as big as this which is so challenging and tiring." Amy adds: "We have been working very closely together learning the part together and helping each other. We have been side-by-side every step of the way. It's the only way... if we were in competition with each other it just wouldn't work." Edit: I fixed the link using noubbc tags. Richard

Hi all, I saw an advertisement of her on TV and bought her album straight away. I hadn't heard of her before. However, I got the CD and was very disappointed. Normally, it would be the perfect formula for a CD that I like, since it has many original and unpredictable songs on there. But her voice is actually horrible. Well done for trying... but her voice doesn't suit the classical crossover market at all. I actually thought she had no talent whatsoever until the last song came along 'I could have danced all night'. She suddenly came to life (she sounds bored on the rest of the album). I think she should hang up the mic and get herself down to west end. I was going to write a review on amazon, but I don't want to stop her sales by writing a bad review. Good luck to her, but I hope she realises quickly this isn't the direction she should take.

Hi Nicola,
I've heard a few tracks from Amy's album played on the radio (can't remember which stations) and my immediate reaction was exactly the same as yours! I think her voice is much more suited to show tunes etc. than classical or classical crossover material.
Cheers, Dave

I like her arrangement of Scarborough Fair. It's lush and the pan flute(?) in the beginning is wonderful. However, I don't like how she puts awkward and unnecessary emphasis on words and certain syllables. It's too affected. Scarborough Fair isn't a song that sits well with affectation.

I felt bad earlier for leaving my post as it did without reasons as if I was just slagging it off so I thought I might elaborate a bit.
There are some good songs on this album, one gem in particular is Io Le Canto Per Te. It's too ambitious for Amy however (she fell flat so many times during it) but I hope another artist somewhere picks it up. Amy's voice is not suited for classical at all, in any shape or form. It doesn't fit and when she tries to hit the high notes it has no elegence or beauty - it just sounds like a shriek. She DOES sing with emotion, but again, her vocals take what could have been good away. Her rendition of Scarborough Fair is what made me buy the album to be honest. I only heard a tiny clip of it in the advert though so it was misleading. It's a pretty arrangement (I prefer it to Sarah Brightmans) but ... argh... just a different singer.
I guess what I am trying to say is for you to try another singer out, don't waste your money on this. I noticed there is some hype about her here before her CD was released. There is absolutely nothing to get excited about here. It's as bad as Martine McCutcheons 'Musicality' album.
I have only just read this post back and I didn't know she was already at the West End. Wow, I've never found my judgement to be so accurate before. Maybe I am starting to know what I'm talking about... ha!

Hi All,
Amy Nuttall will also be on the BBC Children in Need programma coming Friday, I belive between midnight and 1 am. That's the hour before Katherine Jenkins is scheduled to appear. I will be recording it - and most likely fairly soon there will therefore be extra Amy Nuttall video material available.
