I have her cd and I do not think it is bad. And as far as I know this cd has no arias on it. It does have classical songs but not arias. Io Le Canto Per Te I think this is a pop song not a classical song.

Amy was allowed in the UK classical chart and she is very close behind Hayley in sales (she's been on TV a lot more than Hayley, recently). I haven't heard more than a few tracks of Amy's CD, how "classical" do you think it is - compared to the International and the UK Odysseys? Cheers, Dave Edit: PS nicola, just read your post, it's not guaranteed to stay in the classical chart, if another record company complains within a week or so, it could be ejected, that's why I'm interested in the comparison with the two main Odysseys).

I'm surprised it even counts as classical (but I am surprised at Hayleys as well). Hayleys is far more classical compared to Amy's though. They are all pop songs, or folk/traditional songs with pop arrangements. The only classical thing about it as that she used the classical voice in some of the pop songs.

Pity the applause at the beginning was so loud she missed her cue ..... Hello Gerrit, and thank you for the video! I felt sorry for Amy, but she brought back happy memories of the early days of TV when nearly everything was live. Missed cues, collapsing scenery, performing elephants... Best Wishes, Richard

Thanks for the video, Gerrit.
If Amy missed her cue because of the applause, it wasn't her fault. There were monitor speakers in front of her - weren't they working?
Good for her, though because she carried on unflustered and gave a very good performance.

I'm surprised at the critisisms of Amy's voice here. I just bought her album on iTunes, and she has one of those voices I just love to listen to. Warm, crisp, and clear. At times she sounds a bit unproffessional, and some of the stresses she puts on words sound a bit odd, but this is one album where the imperfection makes it perfect. I rather like the slight weakness of her voice. There are some small critisisms I have about Hayley (breathy, nasal) too, but overall, her singing is wonderful. The big picture is more important than the little flaws. Oksana

Amy has an excellent shot at the Classical BRIT Album award. She's well known in the UK and probably has a million friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. who will doggedly support her. Her voice is a lot like Hayley's only more strident.

I love Amy's "Best Days" song, and the arrangements to some of the others... but I wasn't impressed with her live version of "I could have danced all night." I guess that's because I was comparing it to Becky Taylor's, and when you do Amy's version comes out lacking - and Becky was 12! I do listen to the song "Best Days" a lot, but to be honest I think Amy is just another pretty voice as a musician... I mean like with Hayley there's that special unique quality - which I just don't see in Amy. But all the very best wishes to her anyways!!

I love her arrangement of Scarborough Fair - it's my favorite so far.

Somehow , I do not like her singing voice . It is kind of rough and not sweet enough . And she doesn't seem to be able to hit high notes like the High C . And in "Time to say goodbye" , she is really straining her voice. So , I end up buying the Best Days CD and donating it to charity .

I have just been listening to some of her songs from her website. Must say I do like the arrangement of Scarborough Fair. And her voice is OK. But she does have problems singing the high notes... actually she gives me a headache when she attempts to. It's not a voice to die for, but I'll say her album has a pretty nice collection of songs. I like So Far away very much... maybe that's enough to make me buy her album?
I wish her the best of luck with her music career!

Hi Jenny,
You have summed up my feelings about Amy very well. I haven't heard the clips but I saw her perform one song live at the Classic Response concert in the Albert Hall earlier this year. She seemed quite popular with the audience but I wonder if that was because she was already well-known as an actress in one of the British soaps. I don't know which one - I never watch them!
I enjoyed her performance but I wouldn't rush out ot buy the album.
