Hmmmm. A board for the Seekers. That will require a bit of thinking about. Not quite in the right vein (but then, neither are the Cottars and I intend to do one for them). But, the Seekers no longer exist so, would we get much traffic on it?
Convince me. Shouldn't be too difficult because I LOVE the Seekers music.
Keith.

Hi Keith,
The Seekers did a tour of Australia (including the Sydney Opera House) and New Zealand (including Christchurch!) in July 2004. They have been saying for years this the current tour would be their last but they keep coming back. I wouldn't be surprised if they do so again.
More and more compilations keep being released, proving their continued popularity, and a recent one included a newly recorded track.
You might be right about the traffic; at least it could be rather one-sided but then I'm used to talking to myself!
Anyone else have any views?
Roger

Hehe, you might get a shock or two from some of us, Keith - with all this talk about new boards for old pensioners like the Seekers. Anyone for Pink Floyd? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I've been on a high ever since their reunion performance at Live 8 last night and so, by the look of it, has Lothar! As I write, Pink Floyd are gradually taking over the Amazon charts, at no. 9, 10, 34, 43, 58 and 68 (including two different versions of Dark Side of the Moon!) There are TWELVE of their albums in the top 200 Seriously though, I don't mean it about the board... I'm just a bit over-excited. I may start a thread though!

Hi Dave, Feel free to start a thread about Pink Floyd. There are still a lot of very loyal fans out there. And, where better to come to talk about them than here. We may even educate them towards some of the other singers/groups here - especially Hayley. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifKeith. p.s. Hehe!! That was post number 501 for me.

I think a sub-board for Holly Stell could be started because her thread has been really popular on this forum. Another suggestion I have might be to group the sub-boards by genre, (ie. classical, crossover, pop, instrumentals, young singers). Just an idea Oksana

Hi Oksana, It is an interesting idea and I was thinking along similar lines just a few weeks ago. However, if anything, it may become necessary to reduce the number of sub-boards, simply because of the time it takes to run them. To categorise them would effectively mean sub-boards within sub-boards which I don't think is technically possible. The best we could do is therefore to re-order the existing sub-boards which are currently strictly alphabetical. I will discuss your idea with Simon and Dave but I think we would have to restrict the categories to Classical, Crossover, and Instrumental. I think to include Pop, for example, is too far removed from what people would expect to be included on a Forum which is principally for Hayley (even though she ventures towards that genre sometimes). Give me a day or two and I'll come back to you on this. Thanks for the suggestion though - they are always welcome. Roger

Hello Roger! It should be possible to split the "Other Music" section into separate genres, but each genre would have to have its own board on the Home page, something like this:- Other Music - Classical Other Music - Crossover Other Music - Instrumental Other Music - General (or Unclassified)Each board could then have a sub-board for each artist. I think it would be much too complicated to try and run the section this way, plus it goes against the current intention to reduce the number of boards. Never mind, it's only a thought. Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Richard and thank you for your input.
There is a great deal to be considered here and I have already had lengthy discussions with Simon and Dave but hopefully, some decision will be made very soon.
Your four proposed categories are probably ideal (I considered Celtic because of the Cottars instead of General, but your idea is better). We will look into possible navigation difficulties and may be able to find an alternative which still enables us to have ONLY one board on the Index page. We shall see.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you have seen Andre Rieu, his magnificent orchestra and his singers perform and if so, what you may have thought of them. I have tickets to see their performance this spring (fall for you good people in the Southern Hemisphere!) and I am really looking forward to it. I've seen him on the local PBS TV, and I find it difficult to believe how someone can amass this much talent on one stage. Regards, Gene

Just curious...what criteria do you use for someone to qualify having a sub-board in "other music"? Donna

Just curious...what criteria do you use for someone to qualify having a sub-board in "other music"? Donna Hello Donna, Basically, a sub-board is maintained for artists who are: - active and establishing a fan base,
- associated with Hayley's management and HWI,
- crossover and/or Celtic in performing style.
Due to the level of activity of the forum, we are not planning to introduce additional sub-boards. Hope this helps, Joe

Hi Joe By "level of activity on the forum" do you mean there are too many mambers who would want a sub-board? I think lots of us dream of singing....maybe that is what attracts us to forums like this. To feel "closer" somehow to people who are doing what we dream of!

Hi Steph,
No, we are not suggesting that too many members would like their own sub-board. By the "level of activity", Joe was referring to the fact that Hayley's section of the forum is far more busy now than ever before - and we are delighted that it is. But because of that, we feel we should limit to some degree the activity levels on the Other Music board. We will not deny members from posting about other singers (provided they fit the criteria that Joe specified) but we are not going to actively encourage it by creating more sub-boards.
