The photo isn't an unqualified masterpiece, but it's awfully good, generic or not. Ah, then our opinions differ simply because Hayley does nothing for me. I am quite certain that it's not necessary for Hayley to "do something" for a person for them to like the photo. Which do you prefer, the original album cover or the new one? -- Dave

This cover, however, looks like a standard closeup and nothing more.

Overall, I think this new album cover of Hayley's is excellent. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it fits the mood of Odyssey. Actually, it probably works more for the UK edition rather than the American or NZ editions. A good thing I noticed is that the font on Pure is reused. That's a good thing, because I think artists should have their own fonts. It's easier to recognise their cds that way. I hope they include the lyrics in this edition. That would be great: three new songs, a new cover, and lyrics included. Yes, that would be wonderful! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I've now seen the UK Odyssey special edition listed for preorder at 7 online websites and three of them (including Amazon and Tesco) quote a release date as 3rd April 2006 (a week later than HMV and the others). If true, this one week delay may or may not be a smart move On the one hand, overall album sales will be lower in the first week of April (most people get paid the week before) so for the same sales, Odyssey will enter the chart higher. There may also be a pent-up demand from Il Divo concert-goers in the UK the previous week, further boosting its initial chart position. An initial chart position as high as possible is essential to generate further publicity on top of TV ads and concert news. On the other hand, some sales would be lost from concert-goers being unable to immediately buy the album after the concert. They could preorder it though (e.g. online) and if they do, it will help that initial chart position the next week. They could of course buy the original edition of Odyssey instead - no doubt discounted by then. Sales will be combined for the chart, this time It will be interesting to see what the actual release date turns out to be - especially as Easter Sunday is 16th April this year (this is good!). Wow!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I love the new cover to "Odyssey." I mean the other one was really good as well, but this gives the special edition a whole new look! Now, I'm really going to have to find a way to buy it!

Hey there... How about busking like Hayley used to do? You could raise some "candy" that way... Can you play guitar, sing, or shake a tambourine, or perhaps all three? You could be onto a winner! Regards, Andrew

It looks like the release date for the special edition is still being decided by Decca as Amazon says the release date is 4th April, while Tesco says it will be released on 27th March.
It might become clearer as the days go by, but it might be one of those times when you have to check the shops every monday around the release date time to see if the album is being stocked.
The sooner, the better I say. I am planning to buy the album for Hayley's version of Scarborough Fair.

The sooner, the better I say. I am planning to buy the album for Hayley's version of Scarborough Fair. Hi Dave, not only that but ASDA have 10th April and HMV have changed their date to 10th April. Take your pick! But Hayley (and Decca) may have had a dilemma. 27 March is the day after Mothers Day and will be a low sales week. So even with the tour starting, Decca and Supermarkets (where Hayley sells best) may not like it. A lot of Hayley's natural "present for mum" market would be lost. Releasing on 3rd April would be better as it's well into the tour - but it's half way between Mothers Day and Easter so that would also be a low sales week. Supermarkets wouldn't like that either (for a crossover album to hit the shelves). Releasing 10th April would catch the sales boost (+27% last year) that we always get the week before Easter Sunday (16 April) - and sales in supermarkets, where Hayley sells best, will increase a lot more than that. Also, the supermarkets will have to be persuaded to stock this album and they may insist that it hits their shelves in a busy week not a quiet one. Take your pick of release dates, who knows? But I know which one I'd want if I was a Supermarket Manager... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDave

Hi Belinda, 10th April would be excellent, two days before the two huge Wembley Arena concerts with Il-Divo. Now I have two things to look forward to in April, I can't wait to get my copy! Steve H

Yes Belinda, of course!!! Now why didn't I think of that? Also, Hayley has a free day on the 10th and is due back in London for Wembley concerts on the next two days. So if you put all that together, Il Divo and Hayley in London, Hayley's birthday, imminent Easter eggs with sales boost, and best of all me Roger and Richard heading for Wembley, it's a perfect opportunity for Hayley to do signings and maybe get on TV that week! I can see why the 10th would be a great choice to release it. I like the new cover.Yes looks like a totally new album. Belinda I agree about the new album cover, I think it is very eye-catching and casual CD buyers who haven't heard of Hayley are going to say "wow, who's that?" - and that's half the battle! I believe this is a case where the simplicity and beauty of the new cover will attract more attention than the original more "arty" album cover. Cheers, Dave

Hello It appears that the new version will be released on April 10th according to HayleyWestenra.com. I bet that Dave and Belinda wished that they had made a bet on the released date now i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDavid

Hi All, Just think, if only Decca were to wait exactly one more year, they would be in time to release the record on Hayley's 20th Birthday... Heh-Heh! I'm just trying to cause trouble!!! I wonder what kind of CD we'll be expecting for release on Hayley's 21st Birthday??? Maybe this future CD will include 21 tracks, or perhaps a "21 gun salute" for an introduction!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHayley, we salute you! Regards, Andrew

Lovely thought, Andrew and 'yes', 21 is still the traditional key point of a life.and for Hayley and those following her, life does indeed go so fast we really do need to plan ahead.
On the other hand, do not let us run her life away, let us ensure we distill every minute as we travel along life's road with her. We need to ensure we live each moment to the full.
Peter

Hi Peter You are quite right. Although one can reap rewards by means of careful planning for the future, it's very easy to fall into the trap of thinking so far ahead that one takes living in the present for granted! I guess there's a balance to be found in there somewhere! It's not such a bad idea to start planning some ideas for marking the occasion of Hayley's 21st Birthday now though! Hmm... Now where's my "thinking cap" gone Regards, Andrew
