This is all very wierd! I've just had a look through the thread. Post 85 is dated October 5th at 3.26pm, Post 86 is Todays at 11.30am I hope the missing pages can be restored as they contained some very moving pictures and tributes. Interestingly, the 'Total Posts' figure hasn't registered the disappearance of 7 pages of posts! As some of you may know, I keep a record of total posts, so I know how far back to go when I next log on. When I logged out at 1035 ish, I recorded 49,927 posts and when I logged back in a few minutes ago, the figure was 49,937 so it looks as though they are still here somewhere! Best wishes Grant

Thanks to everyone who has reported the missing pages from this thread. I have checked the Security Log within the Admin Area and can confirm that only 7 posts have been deleted (throughout the entire forum) since 5th October, none of which were from this thread. I can therefore offer no explanation for the disappearance and have to admit that I am as baffled as you are.
As for restoring them, I regret there is nothing we can do as there is simply nowhere to look. We therefore have to hope that it is a software glitch which will respore itself in due course.
Roger

This is very disappointing, especially for the reports and pictures that have been posted in this topic. This 'disappearance' is very strange and I hope it won't happen again. Would it be possible that a hacker or a virus of some sort is the cause of this? Stephany

Okay, so we went from Page 15 down to Page 6.. I have a cached copy of Page 14 here at work, and will check when I get home to see what else I have that might also be cached. If anyone else can do this, we may be able to rebuild this the old fashioned way. If you go into the following directory, C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files entering your username in the "Your Username" area, and then look for the html files starting with hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Concert&action=display&thread=1187835811&page=we basically need anything that has (at the end) &page=8 to &page=15 If you can find those, right-click, select Copy and then paste them into another folder. As we have already overwritten pages six and seven, I might be able to grab them from home. The copied files will save in the new folder as index[1].htm From there, let me know and I can compile them and if Roger/Dave can't figure out a way to re-enter them onto the board, we can just enter them manually Sorry to be pushy over this, but this thread meant a lot to me, and I was planning on saving it tonight anyway. Argh! ~Chris

I may be wrong but I believe that Graeme has saved all the reports posted on this topic. He's probably sleeping by now so we'll see tomorrow. I keep my fingers crossed Stephany

As Roger said, nothing in that thread was deleted by anyone, hardly anything was modified and it's all a bit of a mystery. The security log includes details of: so we should know about it. But we don't. Thinking cap on. Dave

Hi everyone Chris, I have looked in the directory you mentioned above and have found pages 7, 13 & 15. I have copied and pasted into a new file. However, there didnt appear to be anywhere to type in my user name. Now in the new file and when opened up, a note at the bottom of the page says "page does not exist " Have I done something wrong ? When looking on "history" I have pages 10, 11, 12, 13, & 14. Could this be useful in any way. Sorry - I'm not much up on the finer workings of computors Let me know if you think I have anything of any use - I'll do anything i can to help. Best wishes Mark.

Hi Mark and everyone, Anyone finding cached copies of the missing pages like this who uses Internet Explorer should save them as a "Web Archive" file which has the suffix .mhtThat will save the entire page in one file (say on your desktop, or anywhere) and we can try to collate them and decide what to do with them later. Please don't start posting missing pages yet... just keep them until we know what we have recovered... otherwise the thread will end up in bit of a mess. Cheers, Dave

Hi everyone, Unfortunately, the "missing pages" problem appears to be a known bug in the proboards software. [/b]I've already tried "Fix A Board" which some Proboards Staff suggested to others with a similar problem; it doesn't (ever) seem to work for this particular problem (bug). There are several threads about it in Proboards' support forum and there does not appear to be any way to retrieve the lost pages. Here is the most relevant post I can find about it (but there have been others more recently): Let's see how many of the missing pages we can recover, to help anyone who posted long reports and didn't save them on their own PC. Cheers, Dave

Further to my Post 91.
When I logged off this afternoon, the total post counter was showing 49,945 but when I logged back on this evening it had reduced to 49,834; a reduction of 111 posts.
I have looked through Internet Tools, but can't find any relevant cached pages. I don't know why that should be and if anyone can help me look more closely I'll have another look!
Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, the post-count reduction would have occurred when I tried the only possible solution this afternoon (suggested at Proboards Support) which was the "Fix Board" option that we have. This hadn't apparently worked before - but it was worth a try.
One of the things it does, however, is to re-count the posts in the entire board (after the lost posts - but it makes me wonder if others have been lost un-noticed in other threads in the past) so that probably explains it.
Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave I presume that Proboards are unable to offer a recovery solution from a recent server back-up?
