I forget who was most interested in what Bath was like and what to do there. I am not sure if it was anyone who can look in on BBC1 at 9:00pm this (Sunday) night to 'How We built Britain'. It covers several areas but there is a short piece on Bath which people visiting Bath and unfamiliar with the city might find interesting.

I'm going to stay the whole weekend in Bath (15th & 16th December) so it should be interesting to visit the city.

Cracking star lined up for Christmas concert

A Kiwi singing sensation will be the latest classical star to sing on stage with a Bath-based choir.

The Silver Ring Choir has sung in the past with Jamie Cullum, Clare Teal and Katherine Jenkins.

And Saturday night saw former child star and Songs of Praise presenter Aled Jones joining the choir, and its younger brother the City of Bath Male Choir, on stage at the Forum.

Now teenage superstar Hayley Westenra has been announced as the choir's next celebrity guest for the choir's Christmas show.

Hayley Westenra has made a huge impact on the English music scene since arriving from New Zealand four years ago.

At the age of 15 her first album Pure sold faster than any other classical debut in history in the UK.

She has gone on to duet with singing stars including Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras and Bryn Terfel.

She will be a part of the choir's Christmas Cracker show at the Forum on December 15.

Grenville Jones, musical director of the two choirs, said: "Hayley Westenra is a superb performer.

"The Silver Ring were on tour in New Zealand only two years ago and our last concert of that tour was in Christchurch and so I am finding some New Zealand Christmas Carols that we can sing with her.

"It is going to be another fantastic night and we will be supporting the work of the Children's Hospice South West that evening as well."

The event is sponsored by HSBC and will also feature an appearance by the Bath Rainbow Steel Band, the Wessex Male Choir from Swindon and the Stockingtops swing group.

Hi All

I was planning to go to this one and may still do so, although I'm a little put off with Hayley only being a guest and the fact that I don't like steel bands!

I have to say I much prefer my Hayley 'neat' (as in not on the rocks, not as in neat and tidy 'cos she's always that! )

I'll probably wait a little while to see if anything else is announced around the same time.

Lets hope after this concert Hayley will start on her way home to NZ,
Talk about trying to fit as much as possible in a year

Fiona and Ian will be doing a concert 15th and 16th Dec at the Harbourlight at Lyttelton.in NZ. Fiona will be joined by Ian Tilley – Keys, Misha Marks – Guitar, Pete Fleming – Bass and Greg Donaldson – Drums

Going by the name is Bath some where near the water
