Hi All
Just returned home from Shrewsbury. I arrived about 4.30 pm at the Abbey and discovered Karsten sitting on a bench in the car park. I recognised the tartan tie! I think this was to become the smallest gathering from HWI that I have been part of! Karsten said that they should be arriving by car again but it was already later than the previous day. I suggested that there was probably a little less preparation required as it was the second day there. Sitting together on the bench around 5 pm who should pass by? Yes, Hayley! With her sun shades and shopping bags! Hayley saw the two of us and shouted over "Hi Guys" Well we were caught by surprise and by the time we had collected our belongings she was disappearing into the Abbey. As she later explained during the concert she had taken the opportunity to do some shopping because they were there for the two nights. We went for a little snack at the place recommended by Grant, which was lovely. Returning to queue about 5.45 pm. First in line! Karsten will give his report but I must mention how he found it so funny that there was no urgency for people to start queuing! At one stage taking a photo of the queue and time stamping it. We took our front row seats and watched a wonderful show. Almost the same as the night before but Mummer's Dance instead of One Fine Day and the encore was Sonny! I think Hayley realised that she would only get one encore again tonight. Karsten and I waited afterwards and had our moments with Hayley. We were joined by Bill, who had also been to Stoke and Grassington. Bill is a self confessed lurker! I am trying to persuade him to become a member. Bill if you read this come and join us! I have your avatar of you and Hayley all ready for you. I will send you an Email. Hayley was very relaxed during the signing session. I think she was benefitting from the two days without travel. She had so much time for everyone. I took very few photos last night. Karsten was merrily snapping away and I know there will many to come. Between Grant last night and Karsten, I thought I would take the opportunity to relax and enjoy the show.

Thanks for the report, George! Gordon and I had a similar encounter with Hayley at the Royal Albert Hall on 1st June. She came out of the stage door with Kathryn Nash and caught us sitting on the low wall outside the adjacent door. Bill, if you're reading this, we'd all love to hear your account of the concert. That gives you the perfect excuse to join our forum! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hi Grant, Many thanks for sharing your beautiful photographs with us from Shrewsbury Abbey. Hayley is quite obviously enjoying herself there... Re: your pictures of Fiona... my guess is that she's just been told that they are not allowed to perform any more than 4 encores... Andrew

Hi George
Thanks for your report. I understand how you feel about taking pictures. There are times you just have to stop and be "with" Hayley. I'll always make sure I get some 'in the can' usually when Hayley's busy signing things, but when the queue begins to die down, then that's the time to stop in my opinion!
Some mixed feelings about last night, I would have been sorry not to have heard "One Fine Day" again, it really was magnificent, but on the plus side, Oh boy!! you got to hear "Sonny". It was disappointing last night how quickly the applause died after Hayley's encore.
Did Hayley wear the same dresses? It was interesting that Hayley changed again on Friday. At one time she would do the meeting fans thing in her normal clothes; latterly, she has remained in her performance gown. On Friday she changed into another dress. I wonder? Maybe they were all going out for a meal or something.
Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant
Hayley wore the same two dresses and also changed into the same black dress for the signing. Another reason I was happy to watch and not worry about the photos. I too had mixed feelings regarding the song list. I was disappointed not to hear One Fine Day but hearing Sonny for the first time was wonderful.

Hi George! Great to hear that you enjoyed the concert. Don't worry about the pictures, Grant took many and if Karsten took some as well there'll be quite an amount of them ... Don't understand me wrong. I always love too see some new pics. But it's true, Grant, you go to a concert to be "with" Hayley and her performance. You want to enjoy every second and taking photos sometimes interrupts the concentration on Hayley's music which I find disturbing for myself. So I usually don't take many photos when she's on stage. My photos aren't very good anyway when I'm not allowed to use flash. I prefer waiting for the signing session. I realised today that my camera also has got this "red eye" light always on when taking a picture. Doesn't matter if the flash is activated or not. But I found out how to switch it off. Good to know for the next time. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Although I wouldn't mind to get a hug from Hayley if I had to apologize like Gordon did ... you lucky guy. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThomas

Hi Grant, Very Lovely pics, & yes she sang some very nice numbers , even encored, but I'd still like to know how many people were there watching & listening. I looked up Shrewsbury Abbey on the web & it's quite a large building & I guess it would hold 400-500 max. Because churches were traditionally cross shaped when viewed from above, the long thin proportions limited the seating arrangements & therefore the numbers. (as in 1,2,3,4....) Graeme
