Hi everyone. Here is the Hayley page of the programme. Photobucket is giving me problems for the moment and supposedly so is my personal web site having problems but with that I have more options to jiggery-poke to make something happen. The cover and West Side Story ad is HERE. Peter S.

Many thanks to Dave and Stuart for their stunning pictures hoping there will be more to admire in the next days and to Martin for his report. Open air concerts in July seems to be wet affairs in the UK. Hi Richard, Is there a way to hear classic fm outside the UK ? Many thanks in advance and all the best Karsten

Hi Peter,
We prefer not to go much higher than 100kb for photographs if we can help it but for text scans, anything up to 150kb or so would be perfectly acceptable. The only limitation is that it could become a problem if there were a dozen or more on the same page. Three or four shouldn't acuse any difficulty.
Hi Karsten,
Hopefully, Dave will be recording this evening's programme on Classic FM and and will post it here (or a link to it on the main site).
Roger

Many thanks Martin, Dave, Stuart and Peter for sharing the evening with the rest of the world.
As Martin said, what an evening.
We (Gini and I and girlfriend Carole) arrived in the carpark around 17:30 and after loading up the picnic furniture, crossed the fields to the sound of Hayley and Vittorio singing "Tonight" for their first soundcheck. By the time that I had walked down to the outer walls of the Abbey, Hayley and Vittorio had finished and the orchestra started to check out their sound. Walking back to the picnic site we then had a second helping of "Tonight", obviously Hayley had not been happy with the sound effect first time round. Thinking that was our lot until 19:30, I walked back to the car for a further folding stool only to hear Pokarekare Ana coming over the airways, shortly to be followed by Laschia Ch'io Pianga. This prompted me to search out a programme seller to find out what was to be performed during the concert. I had gone expecting only exerts from West Side Story from Hayley and I was truly excited to see the contents of the programme. As Martin has already stated, this was a magnificent event, made truly British with the weather and a delight to hear our Hayley supporting our English traditions of "Last Night of the Proms".
The soundchecks proved their worth as this was certainly the best quality sound that I had ever heard. I hope that this was equally good for those seated up the hill.
Stuart and I were situated well for photography and videography. I managed to record Vittorio singing "Maria" and then the moisture seemed to get at the battery rendering the video useless for the rest of the performance. What a shame when the camera police were off duty.

It already sounds like an absolutely wonderful evening - even with the rain! I bet it was a concert that is to go down in history. Thanks for the review Martin, and the couple pictures that were already posted. I can't wait to see this red dress!
I really hope Fanfare for the Common Man is one of the highlights...I played this two years ago in the balcony of a cathedral and it was one of the best expereiences I had playing in a concert. But to also play Pomp and Circumstance No. 1, Out of Africa, and then not to mention the WSS songs...wow. I wish I could have been there.

Hello all, Hope everyone enjoyed the concert...looking forward to the photos and reports. I understand the Classic FM will be airing portions from some of Hayley and Vittorio's performances. BTW, I wonder if Hayley has met His Grace the Duke of Bedford. She could have sung "I Say, (Your) Grace" Joe (goodness gracious me!) Joe, I said hello to the Duke before the performance. He was casually dressed like a working steward, wearing a radio rather than a coronet. During the concert he was seated in the fourth row of the central block and not on a throne in the front row. Later in the performance, as the rain increased, he gathered up his brood (three youngest) and whisked them back into the house before they were completely soaked. He then returned to enjoy the remainder of the evening beside the Duchess. At the end of the concert, before he had a chance to return to his housekeeping duties, I asked the Duke if he was "entertaining" Hayley and Vittorio after the show. He said that he was not personally but did not know what the event organisers were up to. I had maintained close contact with Vittorio's chief Angel who had been promised a meet and greet with Vittorio for all of the Angels. As Susie could not get a signal on her mobile phone to contact Vittorio, the Duke offered his to Susie. It was a pleasure to meet this true gentleman (as one of his loyal subjects). Sadly, despite our best efforts we were unable to see Hayley and Vittorio after the show, being advised by "the organiser" that they had already left. So we returned home with an extra bar of chocolate. At least I had the chance to present Hayley with a bouquet (including a Hayley Westenra rose) before she left the slippery stage.

Next up, after the interval, as Martin explained, Hayley and Vittorio give their first WSS offerings. The first song is preluded by some role play. Great to hear some new material.

A similar capture from me, just before the video died. It looks as though the weather between the Abbey and the stage had got to Hayleys hair.

Hi Guys!
I know I have to say something to comment on what has been posted so far, though it is somewhat difficult when one is
Speechless and lost for words!!
Excellent report Martin, so sorry you all got sodden and that cameras and videos played up and that you didn't get to see Hayley afterwards and I can't wait to see this new red dress!
Stuart, your pictures are amazing and so sharp despite the weather and you have captured the chemistry between Hayley and Vittorio brilliantly.
Dave, I can understand how you might just feel 'rather pleased' by your photo's!! Despite the shadow on Hayley's face, you have captured something very special - perhaps a moment in time that will never be repeated. Hayley's expression is devine and I'm more convinced than ever that she would make a brilliant little actress if she ever decided to go down that road.
Best wishes Grant (totally Hayleywowed and trying to get his feet back on the ground!!)
