Hi everyone, I was wondering, can any of you play videos in full HD? 1920 x 1080? Or the slightly lesser 1280 x 720? This depends not only on the size and resolution of your computer monitor but also on your computer being a fairly recent (therefore powerful) machine as they have to be done in h.264 AVC, and are big, which needs lots of horsepower to play smoothly I ask because I have a full HD version of Silent Night, the file being 200 to 300 MB big. No point in doing it though if hardly anyone can play it, so just asking. Here is part of a screen shot from the Hd version (30% smaller to fit in the forum). Dave

Dave Mine will, though I don't know too many other people who has a monitor capable of displaying 1920 pixel...

Well, I was only able to play the WM one, since the first one wouldn't play for me. Thanks for uploading a WM one so I could see the part with Aled Jones! The picture looked okay to me, but I really have no idea what you mean, anyway. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

They all must've been really tired of the song by that time. :rollin Okay, so it's not the worst Christmas song ever - and Hayley sounded pretty singing it, of course - but it's awfully close! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Dave Hi Dave & many thanks for your big sing videos to date. The answer from me is YES. Our quite recent Samsung TV handles HD perfectly & detects almost all of the video formats. If you're happy to upload a large file like that,I for one would love to have it. I just load a thumbdrive up with up to 8 GB of videos, plug it into the TV and off we go !!! Better than being at the movies. I'm sure quite a few others would have similar capability units. Thanks for the suggestion, Graeme

Hi Dave, Many thanks for the videos so far - but of course it would be fine to be able to watch it in full HD. Haven't so far no problem with a dual-core Intel, an appropriate graphics adapter and 4 G RAM - so don't hesitate... Happy New Year, Karsten

Is that a different key or technique she sang Silent Night in? It sounded so different almost haunting yet absolutely beautiful, kind of hard to explain.
P.S: +1 for HD pls pls pls, ta!!

Hi Sing, You might not know this, but the version of the 12 Days of Christmas you saw in the broadcast was the third take... Martin D I only remember two takes, but we did it a few times in rehearsal too so maybe the memories are merging . Somebody messed up their entrance, prompting the remark from Aled "Is Katherine Jenkins in the house?" Luckily it was only the second verse so we didn't have to repeat too much. Hayley was very apologetic afterwards, but at least it created a conversation point .

Hayley and Katherine have both appeared on Songs of Praise many times. Many people would regard them as equivalent . It was just a joke, implying that if one singer couldn't do the job properly, maybe the other one could . It was all very light hearted.

Hi everyone, Especially fellow HD experimenters! OK, there's enough interest so I've initially made and uploaded two 30 second test files. Working with HD is tricky due to a limited software choice and broadcast HD file incompatibilities, so there's no point in making and uploading stuff unless I know if and who can watch it. I'd appreciate comments about the two test files before I do any more. Who can get them to play at all (even if jerky), and who can play them smoothly? If they won't play, please let me know if you've tried downloading them first, and VLC Player (available here) as that's what I've tested them with. You'll need screen resolutions of 1280 pixels wide to see much benefit over the standard version I posted last week, even wider than that to see the benefit of the 1920x1080 version. Silent Night - 30 seconds clip (h.264/AVC codec) at 1280x720HD @ 5mbps, 21MBSilent Night - 30 seconds clip (h.264/AVC codec) at 1920x1080HD @ 8mbps, 32MB One step at a time... Dave
