Classic FM are playing the best sellers of 2008 NOW. So far All Angels are in at 37 with "Into Paradise". Should have been much higher but the show goes on for 4 hours till 1pm so there's plenty of time to hear how far up the chart Hayley comes !

The normal Classic FM Chart is back this week, and Hayley's 'River of Dreams' is still there at No.20. Jonathan Ansell's 'Forever' is at No.19, and his 'Tenor at the Movies' is a re-entry at No.27. Will Martin is at No.14 with 'A New World', and I believe this is another re-entry. The Priests are still at No.1 for the sixth week, and Mark Forrest said their album sold a million copies in the four weeks leading up to Christmas. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Should be triple platinum by now, somewhere, surely? Peter S.

Thanks for posting the new chart, Richard! I wish I could say thanks to Mark Forrest too but I can't - his comment about the Priests (which i've just listened to on my recording) is a bit of a howler! The Priests are indeed the clear best classical seller of the year and yes, Peter, they went single Platinum. Their sales are about 400,000, not a million... I think Mark is getting mixed up with the US where platinum is a million sales. 300,000 is the correct figure for platinum in the UK and to exceed that is still a remarkable performance, given the present state of the record industry and economic climate so well done to them. Estimates for the top 3 classical of 2008, thanks to another Dave at Haven: 1. Priests 390,000 2. Katherine 240,000 3. Fron Choir 175,000 The thread for the complete annual chart is of course hereCheers, Dave

Hello everyone, After three weeks when Music Week mistakenly failed to publish the UK Classical Artist Chart, it's back today and for the first time since its release, River of Dreams has climbed (compared with 3 weeks ago) from no. 13 to no. 10. This means that after leading Jonathan Ansell down the chart for over a month, Hayley has now broken free and is now ahead of his more recently released album Forever, for the first time I think. Forever is no. 15. The Classic FM chart positions will be several places lower but I anticipate a similar climb there too, on Saturday. Hayley may well climb again next Sunday too, because of todays excellent Songs of Praise performance (which I did record ) I can't see Will Martin in the chart at all, this week and Russell Watson (Ultimate), who would have been no. 2 if there was a chart last week (as in the Classic FM chart) has gone all the way down to no. 13 (unless MW have got mixed up with the original edition, as they sometimes do). Cheers, Dave

Hello folks! Hayley's 'River of Dreams' has gone up seven places to No.13 in this week's Classic FM Chart, and Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' has re-entered at No.26. Jonathan Ansell's 'Forever' is a non-mover at No.19, while his 'Tenor at the Movies' has dropped out of the top thirty along with Will Martin's 'A New World'. Libera have the highest climber with 'Eternal', which has gone up twelve places to No.14, and the Priests are still at No.1 for the seventh week running. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Hayley's 'River of Dreams' has dropped four places to No.18 in this week's Classic FM Chart, but the good news is 'Pure' has re-entered again at No.26. Mike Oldfield's 'Music of The Spheres' has slipped a place to No.24. Jonathan Ansell's 'Forever' has dropped ten places to No.30, Libera have jumped seventeen places to No.2 with 'Eternal', and the Priests are still at No.1 for the tenth week running. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Hayley's 'River of Dreams' has slipped seven places to No.25 in this week's Classic FM Chart. 'Pure', 'Forever' and 'Music of the Spheres' have all dropped out of the top thirty. Young saxophonist Tyler Rix has gone straight in at No.1 with his album 'Ascent'. He's managed by Bedlam, so I've started a thread for him HERE. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Hello again everybody! Hayley's 'River of Dreams' has slipped a place to No.26 in this week's Classic FM Chart, and 'Pure' has re-entered again at No.19. Sadly Tyler Rix's 'Ascent' has made a rapid descent to No.11, so the Priests are back at No.1 for the eleventh week out of twelve in the chart. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Thanks for all the classic FM chart updates Richard! I've just popped in to mention the new Classical Artist Chart which is out today... because Pure has zoooooomed up the chart from no. 15 (in that chart) to... number 5 River of Dreams is up just one place to no. 19. So Pure should be well into the top 10 at Classic FM on Saturday. It is tempting to think it's because of the Valentines tour but I don't think so as it isn't even in the top 40 classical albums at Amazon.co.uk. I think it is more likely that it has been re-released at a budget price (probably to coincide with the tour) in one of the major supermarkets or Woolworths oops I don't know which supermarket has it... but of course, whenever it's in the shops, it will sell. Probably for ever! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Wow, that's amazing, Dave! I wonder what has caused such a sudden surge of sales! It may well have been the Valentines Tour, you know. Many Jonathan Ansell fans were introduced to Hayley for the first time, and many recurring Hayley fans may have thought it hightime to buy the earlier albums they may not have already had. They may not have neccessarily bought albums from Amazon. And if you consider how few copies you have to sell to reach the top spot in the classical charts, it doesn't take much to jump many places in the chart. My theory, anyway. In any case, it's fantastic news!
