I just wanted to apologize for my previous post... I really didn't take into account how awfully hard it must be for someone with such a low esteem, to go out there sing a song like that, and have to deal with everything - on live TV! I have shed my share of tears after performances - and even one during because of my little friends in India - and I didn't have thousands of people watching me and a pretty awful panel of judges. So I really have absolutely no room to talk. So sorry everyone. I hope you can forgive me for that blunder. About the latest additions, I thought Stewards remark that Russell's voice wasn't from God was just the meanest thing ever. He is such a jerk, but Russell was fabulous as ever and so wonderful with Sian. Even if they don't win the show, their winners in all our eyes and Russell's support has really touched a lot of people. You guys are the best!!

I've tried to stop any spoiler posts, for a few hours anyway. Annoying I know for some people but thanks Natasha (I was WAY too slow off the mark! ) I won't do it any more today though... honest! I do think Sian's tears were real but I have to admit, as she is an actress, she may have "enhanced" them a little, for effect. I do not criticise her though - I'd have done the same in her place! She was clearly upset at her own performance on Friday. As for that judge who seems to "have it in" for Russell, he probably thinks every music show like this needs a Mr Nasty so he's playing the "Cowell" part. As Gerrit said: "For complete coverage, see groups.msn.com/RussellWatsonHayleyWestenra/justthetwo.msnw " Cheers, Dave

Thanks for providing us the videos Gerrit. Wonder if Russell picked the song, trying to get Sian to sing "All I Asked of You" may be asking too much. The lyrics of the song is so appropriate... "let daylight dry your tears, I'm here, no one will harm you..." Russell has been so supportive throughout despite all the nasty comments from Steward. Sian sounded very nervous in the performance, if I'm in her position I wouldn't even be able to open my mouth. At least Russell managed to strike back at Steward while he still had the chance. I really enjoyed the "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" duet at the end!! We'll see who will win on Sunday Allen

I don't see what everyones problem with Steward is, he is a judge, he is being honest. I more annoyed with Lulu. She gave Penny a 5 who can't sing AT ALL and then gave Sian the same mark. It was ridiculous. I think Russell was cruel giving that song to Sian to sing (All I Ask Of You) it's the most operatic musical out there. Sian can barely sing in the first place. I think he was trying to show off to be honest with you Having said that, I do love Russell and enjoy watching him sing live again and again on prime time TV. It's a joy to watch

Hi Tashi, I think you were being as hard on yourself as probably Sian was. By the way, I think that Stewart's remark about that gift not being received from God was not directed at Russell, but at Sian's ability to sing. I do think though that his coment to Russell about being nauseating was uncalled for - but Russell was able to give him back some of the same Gerrit I just wanted to apologize for my previous post... Hi folks, I'm not going to attempt a repeat of the anti-spoiler thing i did last night (I was never quick enough LOL) so anyone wanting to see their recording first, beware of the thread! Or check for videos from Gerrit's direct link on page 1 of this thread. Good luck to Russell and Sian - they will need it as they are clearly inferior *as a pair of singers* to Natasha and Mark. From what I've seen in this series, Russell is better overall than Natasha but Sian is far worse a singer than Mark and as a duo, Natasha and Mark are better. The musical purists will hate it I know, but I do hope in a perverse kind of way that the Great British Public in its infinite wisdom will throw up a shock result. So as Natasha said at one point last night (I saw it ) "Go Russell!" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Well they saved their best performances for the final and had a VERY careful choice of songs.... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif For the time being, here is just one taster but that's your lot until Gerrit's done the REAL work! As you can see, it wasn't a victory for classical crossover but for Russell - and having cringed at Sian's performances all week, I was overjoyed to see them - finally - pull it off. It could only have happened with Rock music - they did Great Balls of Fire too! 7MB, 350 kbps Dave

Well, two of their best 3 scores in the competition came on the final night - and they scored their first 9 from one of the judges. I sincerely doubt though that Sian would have won with the original intended partner, Rick Astley. I think Russell much higher profile pulled them through! Gerrit P.S. Dave, I do think you poicked the best performance of the night to publish here, even though it scored 1 point less than Great Balls

Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow!! I'm sooooooooooo happy/excited, etc, etc. lol. :2fun: I kinda yelled when they won, haha, and Crystal looked rather shocked to see that coming from me!! What can I say - Russell [glow=red,2,300]CONGRATULATIONS[/glow]! You really showed them what the voice was all about!! Best wishes and soooo many hugs - Gerrit thanks so much for covering this event! Love, Tashi

Wow, what a surprise win!! Sian's performance has been so so throughout the competition and she really pulled it off at the final show. Good selection of songs overall, especially meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love" (their best performance ever). It would be interesting to see Russell recording it as a solo on his next album, just a thought i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRussell certainly deserves the title of "the voice", he can sing anything from meatloaf to elton john to pavarotti with perfection. When he sang his part in "My Song", I swear elton john was the one doing the singing... Go Russell!! However, I do think Mark & Natasha got the best song of the evening with their Kylie Minogue duet "Kids". Although rock isn't my type of music but somehow they turn out to be the better performances Gerrit, thanks for the great coverage throughout the entire competition! Allen

Russell has a talent for emulating other artists voice. Whenever he covers a song he sounds exactly like the original artist. Anyone ever heard his 'Bohemiem Rhapsody'? Scary!

I am soooooooooo glad Russell and Sian won! I mean come on, it would be wrong for 'the voice' to lose! But may I say I really dislike the idea of Russell going on the show, it hurts me when the judges are harsh on him. And I don't like how Sian is throwing herself at him (alright, yes I am jealous, so what??) And make him get on his knees and dance etc. It was such a clown show. And it was painful to hear Sian sing All I ask of you. I felt sooooooo sorry for her!!!! BUT I REALLY AM GLAD THAT THEY HAVE WON!! Love, Jenny

Hi All, Just reviving this thread, because Russell was on the BBC Davina show, in which he met up with one of his judges on Just The Two of Us, Lulu. And his win was also part of the interview. www.classicalrelatedperformances.com/russellwatson/jttou/davina050406.wmvThis is a 41 MB video (almost 16 minutes). Well worth a download for Russell fans. Russell finishes with a live performance of Volare. Gerrit
