Receivers to deal with cancelled Truro festival financial chaos 7:14pm Monday 24th November 2008
The financial chaos caused by a cancelled music festival will be dealt with by official receivers.
The scrapping of the Killiow 08 music festival left thousands of fans out of pocket when organisers pulled the plug on the event.
Camellia MC Productions who planned the five day extravaganza has now gone into liquidation raising fears that creditors will not see their cash returned.
Killiow 08 had been billed as the largest undercover musical event ever seen in the South West with opera star Hayley Westenra and tenor Alfie Boe due to appear.
The concert was due to be held on the outskirts of Truro in September; however ticket sales of just 4,000 from a total of 15,000 available meant the event was scrapped.
Dr Charles Moon, chairman of Camellia MC Productions, said at the time that there was not enough money to pay for a giant marquee which was needed to hold over 3,000 spectators.
Dr Moon has previously said that the cash needed for the refunds was “not in the bank”.
Details of how to contact the official receivers has been posted on the Hall for Cornwall web site.
