Hello Stephany! I wonder whether this will be on a national or a local BBC station. Hopefully we'll find out before the broadcast. Richard Thats interesting Richard, I wonder will it be on the internet? I would think it would, anyone else know, cheers, Rodders

Hi all! When we passed through Truro during our time in Cornwall I followed the sign to Killiow. All I could find was a golf course where the road ended in a car park. There was no promotion for the upcoming concert. I wonder if it was the correct place but there couldn't be that many Killiows around Truro. But I've found this poster at a field between Goonhavern and Perranporth which actually means "in the middle of nowhere". So Cornwall is ready for Hayley. Thomas

Hi Thomas, lucky you had your camera handy,we wouldn't have seen it either i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI guess maybe there will be more advertising as the event gets closer, but then it's not that far away when you think about it is it? Next week it's July, then August,so it is only now a matter of weeks till the event. Are you going Thomas? and how about anyone else? cheers, Rodders.

Hello Rodders and everybody! I won't be going to this event. I'm rather puzzled as to how they hope to sell tickets for concerts on five consecutive days in the middle of nowhere. Alfie Boe and All Angels couldn't sell enough tickets for a one-off concert at Brentwood near London, so I hope Hayley can draw the crowds to Cornwall. Richard

Hi Richard, I have just re-read this thread it includes photo's of what looks like a previous years show. It therefore looks like this is a repeat of at least one previous similar festival If so the organisers must have a shrewd idea of its potential and the necessary marketing. At £100 per ticket ( see thread) they seem to know their market ! Graham

To underline what Graham has said, this is a local festival which has probably been an annual event for many years. It probably therefore guarantees a good attandence regardless of who is appearing. It is likely that many people from Devon and Cornwall reckon to go every year without necessarily being an existing fan of any of the performers. This could benefit Hayley because they are sure to be fans by the time it finishes! Roger

Hello everybody! The official site for the Truro Festival is now up and running at www.killiow.org/It says that Hayley has yet to choose her programme but has said she will be performing a mixture of favourites taken from her first four albums (which fourth album I wonder?). Both Hayley and Alfie will be singing duets at Killiow 2008. Stephany

Are you going Thomas? and how about anyone else? cheers, Rodders. Hi Rodders! No, I'm not going to this one. The journey to Cornwall is too long when starting from Germany. There are other concerts that are closer to an airport. We're lucky with the UK tour although many concerts are during the week. I'm rather puzzled as to how they hope to sell tickets for concerts on five consecutive days in the middle of nowhere. Richard Richard, not the concert is in the middle of nowhere, only the poster that I've found. Truro is actually a nice little town and definitely worth a visit for everyone who's interested to go to Killiow. The cafe Thornton in Truro sells huge cappuccinos and excellent Carrot Cake. Yum! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThomas

Oh Dear, what a pity. It was an ambitious project for somewhere so out of the way, but I would have hoped that Hayley's presence would have guaranteed success. After all, her UK concerts usually sell out months in advance.

And they didn't. Picked up at 13:45 today. BBC an hour ago The specially formed choir will continue to perform at charity concerts A major Cornish music festival has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. Killiow 2008, featuring singer Hayley Westenra, had been due to take place in a giant pink marquee on the Killiow estate near Truro in September. Organisers said there were insufficient funds from sales to pay the company supplying the marquee and no alternative could be found. They said they were "bitterly disappointed" at the cancellation of the charity event. 'Sensible option' Dr Charles Moon, chairman of Camellia MC Productions, said: "When it became clear we would not be able to use the Pink Galaxy

Hello everyone What a great pity this is. I wonder? was the project too ambitious? Ticket prices too high? At £100 each maybe. I think I would have been tempted to attend one day if tickets had been more realistically priced because I love Cornwall and particularly Truro. I feel very sorry for Hayley at this moment. It would have been a big event for her in a part of the world where she has yet to perform and would have meant a fairly steady "five day week" for her. For anyone who wants to read the article for themselves, here is the link to the BBC. LINKBest wishes Grant
