Hi all, I just found this article from TVNZ3: www.3news.co.nz/Classical-Kiwi-singer-making-it-big-in-the-UK/tabid/418/articleID/185138/Default.aspxThere's nothing really new here...but here's the article: Classical Kiwi singer making it big in the UK Camilla Kerslake, 22, was chosen to sing at the All Blacks' test against England and since she's half Kiwi and half British she was asked to sing both anthems Sun, 07 Nov 2010 6:38p.m. By Kim Chisnall A Kiwi who has made it big in the UK as a classical singer has just had her biggest audience yet. Camilla Kerslake, 22, was chosen to sing at the All Blacks' test against England and since she's half Kiwi and half British she was asked to sing both anthems. Kerslake knows all about divided loyalties; she has a Welsh mother and a New Zealand father, lives in London but spent her childhood in Devonport, Auckland. “They didn't tell me which one I was going to be singing and I was thinking, ‘I'm an English, Welsh, Kiwi which one am I going to choose?’ But luckily for me I haven't had to upset either side of the family,” she says. While she is more used to singing an opera in Italian than an anthem in Te Reo, she did have childhood memories to draw on. “I’m used to singing Maori songs and I guess that way for me it was a bit easier. I've really enjoyed it; it's really taken me back to my roots it's made me feel like a five-year-old again.” Kerslake's big break came last year when she became the first artist to be signed to the record label of Take That singer Garry Barlow. She got Barlow's attention by delivering a copy of her demo CD to him every day for six weeks. “About a week and a half in people were saying, ‘ok, you need to stop now obviously nothing is going to happen’, and I'm like, ‘well maybe he wasn't there, maybe he's been busy’, and then it was just one of those things you know when you've put so much into it you can't stop, you have to keep on trying, and I'm lucky I did because I think the only reason he listened to it in the end was he had piles and piles of CDs on his desk.” At just 22 Kerslake has already had a varied career – she's been in a girl band and performed for the Queen but classical music remains her true calling. “I went to a school called Vauxhill in Devonport and one of my teachers, Mrs Dick, said the other kids used to come in singing nursery rhymes and that I used to come in signing opera.” Kerslake's second album will be released in March and she hopes to tour in New Zealand – finally giving her New Zealand relations a chance to see her live. Best wishes Sing

Hi all I just saw this on Camilla's facebook page: "For all you Kiwi's the interview I gave today will go out on TV3 after the rugby and for you Brits I'm on Sky Sports 1 at 2:15! Watch plz! x" I think she's singing (sung) both the New Zealand and British national anthem on the rugby...I wonder what that was like...I also wonder if Hayley will sing the NZ anthem this year?...i hope so...i love listening to her sing it!... I think Camilla'll do a good job of the British anthem though... best wishes Sing

Thanks for the link Libby!!! At first I wasn't too sure about the song tbh...but I've heard it several times now...and it's definitely grown on me quickly! I can't wait to get this new album...I only discovered Josh Groban by accident not too long ago...and i've got 3 of his albums now....I think he's released more but I'm not sure where to find them... I love his voice...especially on songs like You Raise Me Up- which is probably my most favourite song in the world... i could listen to it all day...tbh though i think this new song is coming a close second now!... best wishes Sing

I've just watched the film Dear John...it is a great film...although very sad in places :-( ...in it there's a song which was written and sung by Amanda Seyfried (she plays a lead role in the film) called Little House...here's a link to it : www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjGOEU94sHcI'd love to hear Hayley sing this song because I think it would suit her voice very well...and although it is a simple song...i think it is very beautiful...but maybe that's just after having seen the film...it fits perfectly with the film anyway...it's a must-see for romance lovers I think!... I'd also love to hear Hayley sing a French song in French...as I'm studying French and i'm told to listen to as much French music as possible...i'd love that to include Hayley...and give me more of an excuse to get my classmates and my teacher to listen to her music...I think that'd be the only way... best wishes Sing

You're welcome Grant I'm surprised too I thought this would be an album which would be easy to find...but im keeping my eye out...next time im in town i'll have to search everywhere which sells CDs...perhaps copies are in the shops now...but there was some delay Yeah I think my friend's teasing me on purpose...she knows how much of a Hayley fan I am...and how interested in anything related to the wars- particularly music, I am (if that makes sense!) ...hopefully i'll get it out of her eventually!...she's said it's from a shop but won't say which one...wish she'd narrow it down a bit lol!!... Fingers crossed i'll either get it out of her soon, or get a copy- or both!! best wishes Sing
