Hi Cathleen, I'm so sorry for you, too Roger was more involved in dealing with this than me so I'll let him add any detail if he can. But one thing is certain, Hayley did not want the cancellation and Steve her Manager tried hard to avoid it. Now see what you did, you've got me crying, too Dave

Hi Cathleen, Sorry that you won't get to see Hayley in March. I know that you've been looking forward to her concert in NC since last July. Please don't despair. I'm sure that when things come together, you'll get the opportunity to see Hayley sing. Let's see you smile Joe

Cathleen, I'm so sorry. That's terrible! I hope you do get to see her in the future though. Unfortunately, I most likely won't be able to attend the concert here either, for health reasons. But, Hayley's North American career is just taking off. I'm sure we'll see dozens of tours in the future! Oksana

Hi Cathleen and everyone who had hoped to go to the Charlotte and Redwood concerts. As Dave said, it was not Hayley or her manager who cancelled those concerts. In fact they didn't know that either of them were cancelled until we told them on Monday! As I previously mentioned, Steve Abbott sent me the schedule which I posted on Saturday. When our HWI Correspondent in California saw it, he still doubted that the Redwood event was going ahead so contacted the venue immediately - thank you James. The Managing Director of the venue explained that he had been informed several weeks ago by "an agent" that Hayley would be in Australia with Il Divo at the time and so the contract was deemed to have been broken, but for reasons that are unclear, Steve was never told. Incidentally, as far as we are concerned, the Australian leg of the Il Divo tour was never confirmed, so how the American venues came to be told that, remains a mystery. So, this information was relayed to Simon who passed it on to me, hence my post to "hold fire". I suggested that a phone call to Steve was justified and pointed out that the remainder of the tour must now be in doubt. Because of that, Steve got back to us last night and confirmed that Charlotte had been cancelled (presumably for the same reason) but that the remainder of the tour was going ahead as planned. It is now too late for those two concerts to be re-instated, presumably because the venues are now booked to someone else, even though Hayley is still available to do them. I can only repeat it is not Hayley's fault and I'm sure she is just as disappointed as you are. Cathleen, your day will come. Roger

Hi everyone, I am kind of confused. So the venues cancelled the concerts because they thought Hayley was going to be in Australia? That wasn't very nice. But anyways, thanks for the sympathy, guys. It makes me feel better. I'm sure I will get to see Hayley someday even if it may not be soon. I just hope they refund our money for the tickets...

Hi Cathleen,
I'm not surprised you are confused. We are all confused and dismayed that something like this could have happened.
I should clarify that it wasn't the venue's fault either. Let's just say there are agents involved in between Hayley's management and the venues. Apparently, one of them informed the two venues that Hayley would be in Australia in March which, to be fair, is what I expected about 4-6 weeks ago. Therefore, the venues had no choice but to treat the contract as broken.
During the two years or so that I have been involved with HWI, and thanks to being privileged to have come to know Hayley, her family and her management team, I have learned that arranging a major tour for someone of her status can be something of a minefield. Unfortunately we (HWI) and people like you can get caught in the crossfire.
As for the refund of money, it is usual that refunds would *normally* be given if the person whose show it is (ie Hayley) does not appear, so in this case, you should be alright. However, if it is only the guest artist who cancels, you would not be likely to get a refund.
Your day will come, Cathleen.
Roger

Hello Roger and Cathleen! I've been a member of this forum for over a year now, so I fully understand the difficulties in keeping a fan site up to date with accurate information. It must be even more difficult for Steve Abbott and the rest of Hayley's management team when agents make incorrect assumptions, which is what seems to have happened here. It must get very complicated when Hayley is the guest artist on a major world tour but has to break away for a smaller tour of her own. Please keep up the good work Steve, you really are doing a magnificent job! Best Wishes from London, Richard

Ok, this is really weird.
I contacted someone from the Charlotte Symphony asking if they could confirm the cancellation. I received a reply today. Rather than telling you what it says, I'll just post it:
Cathleen - Your email about the Hayley Westenra concert was forwarded to my attention. We not heard anything about the potential cancellation of this event which we do have scheduled for March 10 at Ovens Auditorium. Can you share with me where you heard the rumor that the concert was being cancelled?
Scott Belford Director of Marketing & Public Relations Charlotte Symphony
Do you think that Hayley's manager knows about this? What do ya'll think? If she is still scheduled, can't she still go on with the concert?

Hi Cathleen, To be honest, we are now more confused than ever as to how this occurred, but have to conclude that there has been a breakdown of communications somewhere along the chain of people involved. The important thing is.... The Charlotte Concert is definitely ON.I can only apologise for the temporary disappointment you were caused. We have now contacted the venue and confirmed that the concert is going ahead so there is no need for you to respond to them if you would prefer not to. Cathleen, may you enjoy it more than ever. Roger

Hello Cathleen! I'm also very pleased to hear Hayley's concert in Charlotte is going ahead, and I'm looking forward to reading about it. Hayley has already made a very good impression on the Il Divo tour and the American press are raving about her, so it looks as though this is her big break in the USA at last. There is definitely going to be plenty of interest in her solo tour in March! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes from London, Richard
