WCO Announces Concerts On The Square Line-Up
Hayley Westenra Performs July 28
April 22, 2004
MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra has released its 2004 indoor and outdoor line-up, which includes a Concert On The Square with 16-year-old vocalist and rising star Hayley Westenra.
"The season as a whole is very dynamic -- with recitals in the middle of orchestral programs, unique instruments such as the basset clarinet, and wonderful repertoire that is both familiar and new. You won't find a season with the feeling of spontaneity that this one has anywhere else," said Bob Sorge, WCO Executive Director.
Westenra performs at Concerts on the Square July 28. Her newest CD, Pure, was released in the U.S. and Canada April 6. Pure has already gone 10-times platinum in New Zealand, making her the best-selling artist ever in the country's history, and she is the fastest selling debut classical artist in the U.K., where the album debuted at #1 on the classical charts and #8 on the pop charts.
