Hi Everyone, I haven't seen this posted anywhere here but according to a post on Katherine's forum, Hayley will be appearing on the Alan Titchmarsh Show, ITV1 from 2.30pm - 3.30pm on Tuesday 18th March. (Tomorrow) Dazza Thanks Dazza. Peter S. PS: I don't usually watch after-noon TV, says he who has just left the set on in case the following repeat of Midsomer Murders is an episode he hasn't seen--it isn't so I'll switch it off and work, after posting this! Hayley presented her song with Mike on guitar, with assorted strings in the background and a harp. Interestingly Alan Titchmarsh divided the chat more or less evenly between the two with a little more bias towards Mike Oldfield, quite understandably, while for the song the camera was mostly on Hayley from different angles diving and swooping from bird's view to Hayley's face CU. Dave, it's about ten minutes in. From Hayley's part I look forward to Horner's CD which I think will be better. It would seem to me that both composers are looking to use Hayley's voice as an instrument to be played rather than as a singer in the usual sense. It is ridiculous to use so small a sample to make more comment on a major work so I will withhold further comment until I know more. I have to confess I am not one of those who found inspiration in the original Tubular Bells. I am not one for after-noon TV but the programme was varied and interesting, including green knickers--not actually coloured green but made from plastic bottles, hemp and bamboo. According to both models (male and female... now why didn't they use Hayley--it was very tastefully done! ) they are very comfortable, the bamboo one being the most soft. Most interestingly Liz Smith was on, that glorious character who portrays the old woman in 'Lark Rise to Candleford' (there is going to be a second series) and the dotty old lady in 'The Vicar of Dibley'. Incredibly she's 86. Thanks for the tip off Dazza.

Hello Dave,
Thank you very much for recording this and uploading it so quickly. What a magnificent performance! This song must not be easy to perform live but she did it perfectly.
Cheers, Stephany

Hi Dave Thanks so much for recording this as I never would have seen it as it was shown in the afternoon. Its a wonderful song - suits Hayleys voice perfectly. I was just a lad of 14 when I bought Tubular Bells back in 1973 - infact, I was the first in my school to buy it as I remember. I still play that cassette today and I still find it a fascinating piece of music to listen to. Seeing Mike & Hayley working together sort of brings my past life and current life together - if you know what I mean Thanks again Dave Mark

Thanks, Dave, for sharing the clip from the Alan Titchmarsh show today.
I really enjoyed this composition by Mike Oldfield. When Mike mentioned during the interview that Hayley had just the voice he needed for the piece, he was right! Hayley's vocals serenely glide over the guitar strings like a feather.
I've had 'Tubular Bells' on one of my Pure Moods recordings. Mike's "Moonlight Shadow" is a superb piece and was given a Celtic flair as covered recently by Aselin Debison.
Thanks again Dave!

Thanks Dave! That was a stunningly beautiful performance by Hayley, as usual. I've never seen the Alan Titchmarsh Show before, but in that short clip he seems vastly superior to most of the other daytime TV presenters. I always enjoy his Sunday evening show on BBC Radio 2, and he does play Hayley occasionally. Richard

Well done Dave. Superb quality. Hearing it a second time and on better equipment than my basic pre hifi TV (YES! It is colour!) I am more happy with it. I think one does want to hear it in context and I think it is something, for me anyway, that grows on you. Thank you. Peter S.

Now that is interesting and before posting further I ran Mozilla in parallel wIth IE 7. I have often found I have not been able to download videos that play automatically and I had thought this was a security aspect. Just now I found Mozilla gave me the option to play or download. Obviously this is to do with my IE7 settings. I mention this only in case anyone else has encountered the same function without knowing why and simply shrugging one's shoulders, as I did. Peter S.

Hi, tried it again direct today and it played without any trouble. It was later in the evening yesterday so 'volume of traffic' then may explain the 'abort ' at about halfway through. Graham
