Promoting Hayley on Classic FM !

Hi everyone

I have spent most of today in my car travelling to and from a business appointment. When I'm not listening to my Hayley CD's, I often listen to Classic FM and have always thought that Hayley is not played that often - at least when I 'm listening It just happend to be the afternoon request programme when the thought came to me - why don't I call in and ask them to play Hayley

I got on my mobile (hands free of course) and called the number. I made the request and the person I spoke to asked me if I would like to record my request Why not I said

He counted me in - 3,2,1 - I basically said that I was a huge Hayley fan and that I had attended many of her concerts and that I was a member of a great fan site called Hayley Westenra International. I would love to hear anything by Hayley

Around an hour and a half later (3.45pm UK) - I was still listening, when the presenter suddenly announced -"If you are a fan of Hayley Westenra, keep listening as I'll be playing one of her songs shortly" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Oh wow - suddenly I heard my own recorded voice on the radio - the good news is, he played Hayley's 'In Trutina.' The not so good news is - they edited out the bit where I said I was a member of HWI

The presenter was very complimentory about Hayley at the end of the track and said perhaps he should of selected that piece of music as one of his top 3 (for the forthcoming Classic FM Hall Of Fame top 300)

Oh well, I did try to promote HWI At least I managed to get Hayley on the radio

It must have been strange to hear your own voice on the radio. It's a pity they edited the part where you talked about HWI but hey, it was to be expected! Very well-done, Mark.

Unfortunately I was at work, but any of us hearing it would be 'preaching to the converted' . Lets hope it added a few more fans to appreciate Hayley.

It is actually a bit of a shock to hear yourself over the radio - I didnt realise I sounded quite like I do - if you know what I mean I guess I couldnt have expected them to include HWI but it was worth a mention. Oh, come on Roger, they are the only radio station that will play her music in the UK most of the time. And their MD even helped Hayley with her book!

Anybody who googles for Hayley will find us!

I didnt ask for a particular song, I thought I would stand a better chance of having the request heard if I just asked for anything by Hayley - so, it was thier choice

Yes, there is a delay between the telephone call and the broadcast and I suspect the telephone call taken is two or three calls behind the latest call choice being broadcast giving 'them', may not be the compere directly, to check content and edit. Although modern technology probably gives them the opportunity to edit 'on the spot' so if they get a duff call they've got a spare immediately behind or can go to a text message.
