This is from "The Press - Christchurch": They also wrote something about it the day before: I also received an email from Jill & Gerald about the Brits via Hayley's official store. They should do the same thing with the official website newsletter! Stephany

Thanks for the link Dori - it's about time New Zealand (well, the rest of it! ) got behind Hayley! It hadn't dawned on me that if Hayley wins, she will be the first Kiwi to win anything at the Classical Brits'. Wish people wouldn't keep getting her age wrong though! Best wishes Grant

I think it was in this thread that somebody asked about the dress code for this event.
The leaflet which was sent out with the tickets includes a paragraph about theatre etiquette. It states:
Having looked at my tickets which arrived this morning, it says:
Dress Code - Lounge Suit / Cocktail Dress
Edit: I still have my tickets for the same event in previous years and no dress code is stated on those. It has been said that this year will be the "biggest and most spectacular award ceremony ever". Now we know how they're going to do it!

Hi
I've got a large DVD collection and I let people at work borrow them. I've obviously never charged any of them for this, except for the last month...
Anyone who wanted to borrow a DVD in the last month - had to vote for Hayley at the Classical Brits to do so! I think I've earned about a dozen extra votes this way.
Can people think of other ways to make their work colleagues vote?
Best regards
Colin

My ticket arrived as well - I hope they won't be too rigorous in applying the dress code. If the weather is nice, I don't feel like wearing a wearisome tie .... And last year, the weather was beautiful. Too beautiful to be throttled by a tie. How wearying ...
I think I will be wearing something similar to last year. Except this time around, I won't be caught in private gardens with open gates, which shut as soon as you have entered them (as did happen to me last year in Eccleston Gardens). I have meanwhile replaced the torn trousers I was wearing last year with some new ones .....
By the way, if anyone knows of something worhtwile happening in London on Saturday May 10, I'd be pleased to hear about it. I had something lined up for that date, which has just been cancelled.
Gerrit
P.S. Stephany, I am a bit worried that your last post does not mention Andrea Bocelli .....

P.S. Stephany, I am a bit worried that your last post does not mention Andrea Bocelli ..... Hi Gerrit, I don't think you have any cause for concern. Stephany's post refers to the CBA launch which is tomorrow. I don;t think there is any doubt that Andrea will be performing at the actual awards. Roger

I wonder why there is no "Instrumentalist of the year award". The last two years, this was won by the pianist Leif Ove Andsnes. Is it because they can't find an adequate replacement for him (I had never heard of him before last years Classical Brits, by the way, and already last year found it peculiar that he should win two years in succession)?
Surely there have been some outstanding instrumental soloists who deserve a bit of recognition? It is not as if the Classical Brits are awash with awards like the Grammys, the Baftas, the Oscars (where frankly in my opinion they go over the top with the number of awards that are possible).
By the way, I for one won't cast a vote this year. I find out I have to register by filling in personal details. Not on your life. People keep saying that in previous years you could not vote if you were from overseas. Which is just not true, because I would have been able to cast multiple votes last year, had I wanted to - even though I am not a UK resident.
Now I have to fill in personal details, supposedly to prevent me from casting multiple votes. Well frankly, I baulk at that. Nowadays you have to register just about everywhere - and in most cases you have to think up of a password as well.
And in this case, just to cast a vote? No way.
I hope Hayley wins this year. She should have won years ago with Pure. But I am not sufficiently committed to go and enter my details just so I can cast a vote.
