Whilst doing some research for the main site, I came across an album at amazon.co.uk which looks interesting. It is called "Hayley Westenra" and the image shown is this one: Now I know what you're thinking, but it is NOT the recent Japanese release of the same name (which is a compilation of tracks from Pure and Odyssey). The tracklisting shown is exactly the same as Hayley's first ever album released in New Zealand in 2001: Track Listings 1. Walking in the Air 2. Ave Maria (Bach) 3. Memory 4. All I Ask of You 5. Somewhere 6. Mists of Islay 7. Ave Maria (Schubert) 8. Bright Eyes 9. Pie Jesu 10. Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again 11. I Dreamed a Dream 12. Love Changes Everything 13. God Defend New Zealand [/li][li] 14. Amazing Grace [Live][/li][li] It is shown as an import (and is priced accordingly!). So, I wonder, has this early album been re-released? Belinda, Rodders or Ross, would any of you be able to enquire in the stores of Christchurch to see if there is any news, please? And Richard, just in case it has found its way into UK stores, would you mind asking in HMV next time you are there? I cannot read the small print at the bottom of the image. It appears to be, "MEDIA DISQUE - 5.NEP/D TELIVE - APACH NETWORK", or something like that. Does that mean anything to anyone? No rush. Anytime before midnight will do! Roger (7.10pm!)

As far as I know there isn't any new release in New Zealand. It has the same songs but looks like they made a new and more up to date cover for an old album.

Hi
Wouldn't that be a bit misleading , having a more mature photo and a 13/14 year olds voice unless Hayley has re sung all songs. Which she could do because alot media and people don't really acknowledge the album Hayley Westenra and My Gift to you and only Pure and Odyssey as being the first and second albums. That could be why Hayley has started using more songs from her early albums in concerts etc lately.

I agree with your suggested wording Roger - definately French!! I've also looked on Amazon.co.uk this morning, what's puzzeling me is that it's shown as a 2006 release, so why haven't we noticed it before? Also, I see that it's on offer for as little as £9.68 from Australia. May just be worth getting a copy. Grant

Hold fire for the moment, everybody! I can find no information in HMV about a reissue of Hayley's first Universal NZ album, but I did see a copy with the original cover. However, I've looked at Universal's French site and the only Hayley CD I can find there is this:- www.universalmusic.fr/servlet/FrontProductServlet?action=view&art_id=259429&product_id=2894757650If you click on the link, you will see that this CD is identical to the Japanese album with tracks from both 'Pure' and 'Odyssey', and there are a few copies to be found in London's Virgin Megastores. Looking at the very small print on the cover, it says this disc is actually made in Australia. Even more interestingly, this album is NOT listed at Amazon.co.uk! I have a very strong feeling that Amazon have simply mixed up the tracklistings of two different CDs with the same title. Possibly Steve Abbott might know for sure. Best Wishes, Richard

Thanks Richard! There seems to be quite a few people/places "getting things mixed up" at the moment!! Grant

Hi Richard, I think it is quite likely that you have supplied the correct explanation. I wouldn't expect Steve to know anything about Amazon's stock but he would, of course, know if there had been a re-release on an early album. If that were the case, I think we might have heard about it by now. Okay folks, case dismissed! Roger
