Hello to all our members and to Hayley fans everywhere,
As Live from New Zealand was 'deleted' and has not been available to buy new for many years, I have created an upscaled HD version of the entire concert and this is now available to watch on our Youtube channel, I hope you like it.
It may interest some members to know that Youtube have agreements in place for rights holders UMG on behalf of Decca records to receive any and all royalties due from this upload.
It is now the 10th. April in New Zealand - happy birthday Hayley!
Dave

Thanks Dave for your great efforts. The picture quality is superb. I'd say it's better to see the NTSC DVD video I bought in USA and play it here in Japan using a SONY DVD player and a NTSC TV system.

Thanks Dave for your great efforts. The picture quality is superb. I'd say it's better to see the NTSC DVD video I bought in USA and play it here in Japan using a SONY DVD player and a NTSC TV system. Hi Maya, it's good to see you still around and I hope you are well. Thanks for your comments on the video. I have long been aware of some quality or technical issues on the DVD as sold in the UK, perhaps because it was produced in a 25fps PAL country NZ for release in 29.97fps NTSC format for the US and then sold without conversion in PAL countries such as the UK. Fortunately, most PAL DVD players have long been able to play DVDs recorded at 29.97fps. However... Video shown on the oval screen behind Hayley in the concert hall noticeably flickers or judders at times in some of the songs, Pokarekara Ana and May It Be for example. This occurs here when it is shown on TV screens as well as computer monitors and I can only guess at the reason. The background screen video inserts of NZ and clouds may have been stock footage recorded at 25 fps PAL) when they should have made dedicated videos at 29.97fps, and if so, this would inevitably lead to some judder/flicker, and would be more noticeable to some viewers than others. Alternatively, I wonder if the video inserts are progressive footage inside an interlaced video - or both! I would be interested to know if in Japan, you can see that flicker/judder when you play the DVD. Also, some of the video inserts are of clearly lower quality when shown full screen than the direct concert hall footage - and I have also noticed edits they did in a few places, perhaps when they joined together clips from the two separate performances Hayley did? Let's just say it's not the the highest quality DVD production that I've seen but the performances are excellent and it is highly enjoyable. I still play it (and now the upscaled version) at home from time to time. But hey, this could all just be me, I can be excessively critical when I edit video and most people probably never notice these things! I just did the best I could, with the material I had. Cheers, Dave

Thank you so much Dave. Sad, times of such concerts are gone now.
Kind regards, Michael

Hi Michael, it's good to see that you are still around.
And yes indeed, unfortunately all is quiet on the entire Hayley front at present, we can but hope she will surprise us all with a comeback of some kind, one day.
Cheers, Dave

After reading that you had made the HD file on YouTube, I located my two [2] copies of the dvd. The one that Hayley had personalized and the one I saved for playing. Do you know the correct spelling of the singer with whom Hayley sang "How Many Stars' and 'Hine e Hine'? I am still in search of the tape recordings of my February 1, 2006 2 1/2 hour interview with Hayley at WJMJ in Bloomfield, CT USA. One of the highlights if my short broadcasting career!

Hello Rodney! I am very glad to see you here again! Glad you enjoyed Dave’s work in remastering Hayley’s DVD! That a wonderful that Hayley signed your DVD in what seems to me ages ago! Her duetting partner was Teddy Tahu Rhodes. I hope that tape of the radio interview you had with Hayley can be located; that recording would be better than gold! Best wishes, Joe

Hi Rodney Glad Joe was able to help with your enquiry about Hayley's duet partner on two of the songs. The other duet was of course with Hayley's sister Sophie. I have now updated the video Chapter lists with these two important credits. Thanks for answering the question Joe!
