Released in 1956 and set to Mozart's Horn Concerto, this could fairly be described as the first contribution to the Classical Crossover genre !

Anyone who listened to the pop charts in the 1970s will remember this. Our teacher at school even played it to us on his tape recorder as an end of term treat !

The lead singer here has a good voice but two cheeky gents in the chorus are determined to upstage him !

Those male forum members of a certain age (and I include myself in that) will identify with this song.

Every great singer needs a great accompanist. Unfortunately for this lady, she got Victor Borge !

Our teacher at school even played it to us on his tape recorder as an end of term treat ! youtu.be/8e1xvyTdBZIThanks for the laughs Jeff, Haven't seen the Benny Hill one in years, a fair bit of product placement in the background by Ford, a Corsair, An Anglia and a nice new Ford Escort and maybe more in the other quicker scenes. If you want to place the video directly into your post, use the black and white chevron button "Insert Video" button three to the right of the "Link" button. I remember listening to this song on my Sinclair "Smallest radio in the world" kit radio when it was in the charts, when the kids who didn't have the money to buy in chart singles waited patiently with their fingers over the pause button of their cassette recorders to record songs from the radio, was home taping really killing music ? P.S. Jeff I see you posted "via mobile" look for the "Insert Video" from the menu options and paste it there for the video to be visible in your post. (I still prefer to use a PC with a mouse controlled cursor)

Thanks Comet. You have to switch it to desktop and then you need very thin fingers indeed as always with phones ! Embedding videos doesn't work in phone format ! To be fair the forum is probably best used and viewed on a PC.

Any [parody] song by Weird Al Yankovic makes me laugh; here are just a few of them:
