Hello all, Another surprise for you, guys. I've found two videos of Hayley performing 'Scarborough Fair' and 'The Water is Wide' on March 9, 2007 in Boston, US. She was featured on the FOX25 Morning News. Click HERE to access the page and see the videos. Irish vocalist Hayley Westenra on the FOX25 Morning News.Stephany

Hi Stephany,
Thank you for those videos which I'm sure we haven't seen before. And is that another *new* outfit that Hayley is wearing?
Did the interviewer really say "Scarborrow Fair"? Is that how you say it over there, Joe?

And is that another *new* outfit that Hayley is wearing? Surely the following picture comparison will answer your question, Roger It was in NYC for 'Close Up'. Stephany

Hi Stephany Thanks for finding those wondeful videos - I think they must have borrowed Caite's camera 'cos of all the clicking! By the way, did you notice on "The Water is Wide" that Hayley is referred to as an 'Irish vocalist'!! Love Grant

Hi Stephany, What I meant was, that is the first time we had seen it in *close up* because the previous occasion, in 'Close Up', was a little more distant! Grant, I think the clicking was caused by a streaming problem. Was the picture jerky as well? I let it play through to the end (without necessarily watching it) and then clicked on it to play again. As it was then in my cache, it played more smoothly without the clicks. Roger

Did the interviewer really say "Scarborrow Fair"? Is that how you say it over there, Joe? Basically so, Roger! I say it as "Scarburrow" Fair... Looked up a similar place name in my "A to Zed" Guide...do you say "Scarbruh" Fair ? Thanks for the links, Stephany !! Joe

Great find, Stephany! I'm prepared to forgive Fox for calling Hayley Irish. After the Ceili at Shepherds Bush, I now realise that New Zealanders are quite similar to the Irish, and they certainly know how to enjoy themselves! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hi Joe and Stephany,
Yes Joe, "Scarbruh" is how many people would pronounce it. Some might be inclined to place a very short vowel sound after the "b" - Scar-ba-ra. The last two syllables rhyming; the "ba" pronounced as in Abba. Phew, that took some explaining!

Roger Hi Roger Stephany and everyone, I also find it difficult to explain how to pronounce Scar borough but I think Hayley has pretty much got it right so I'll let her demonstrate, I think she speaks and sings the "borough" bit just like people in England might do. Hayley - Scarborough (fast in speech, slower, in the song) Hayley's NZ accent is noticeable of course, in "Scar" and "Fair" but I like it all, however it's pronounced! Cheers, Dave
