I hope this slice of light fruity fun inspires some more folk to share some creativity with some paints, poetry or maybe even both? Lime green is my favourite colour since it is so energetic. I think purple really enhances it too. I penned the poem this week after finishing off the painting. I hope you enjoy it. "Funky Limes"
(Painting and Poem by: Andrew Fenning)Funky Limes from jazz roots grow They syncopate bombastic flow With a turn of phrase and a pulsating rhythm Down on the scene you're always with 'em Funky Limes cordially invite you To hip-hop, jazz-rock and soul jazz too Trumpet, trombone and saxophone Those bass line beats really set the tone Funky Limes are: "Marcato Magic" by name They're aficionados at the top of their game A haberdasher's dream, their patterns glow so bright Underneath the moon they're gonna rock the night Funky Limes reach far and wide Bearing all they've got with nothing to hide There are tunes for everyone old and new Just come on down and meet the crew Funky Limes notate their zesty scores Forte, staccato, tenuto... galore! High end Vit C for when you're feeling glum Great gusto, uptempo and pounding drums! Funky Limes perform many requests Just stick around and you'll hear the best Right now I'm sad because I have to go But tonight I'll see 'em steal another show --------- oOo ---------

love the colours and patterns and the glow of light at the centre of the lime. Hi Paul, Thank you so much... I really appreciate your feedback - and with such positive comments too! I used acrylic paints here. Painting provides great escapism. I enjoy experimenting with watercolours; acrylics and oils. I am actually in the process of creating some UV blacklight posters of various designs and sizes featuring different types of fruit in the motifs. I think this design will also look pretty good in blacklight neon paints and obviously then illuminated by UV blacklight to create a real glow! Watch this space... Andrew

Hi All, As a tribute to Hayley’s pet cat “Bowie”, I painted this plaster cast “Aladdin Sane” life mask using acrylic paints. I was trying to capture some stage drama with the colours.

Hi Andrew, maybe you could do another with a more obvious Westenra Tartan across the face without the PINK.
I remember that Bowie album being passed around in our school in LP format when it was the hottest thing on the planet.

HWI is definitely the most loyal Fan Site. We even pay tribute to Hayley’s pet cat here! I have some other creative ideas to share here but these ones are definitely NZ inspired and have nothing to do with Bowie! Watch this space... Andrew

Hi All, I have been painting again recently… Today I framed my farmhouse painting which measures 700 x 600mm. I used acrylic paints on a piece of pastel paper primed with gesso. This is the home of one of my uncles. I decided to paint this as a gift for his 80th birthday. The cherry tree was planted in April, 1978 on my Grandad’s 80th birthday. Although only 4 years old at that time, I was there when the tree was planted and I do remember watching my Grandad posing for a photo wearing his wellies and digging a hole with his spade! Hope you like it and can feel inspired to paint too. Andrew

My Uncle phoned me and expressed his appreciation. He says he knows the exact spot where he wants to hang it. I’m the one who is in suspense now!!! 😂 Andrew

Hi All, The farmhouse painting is now hanging in situe… in the farmhouse. My Uncle seems to be happy with it. I need to supply him with some wider spacer bumpers for the bottom of the frame though - in order to compensate for the spacing of the picture rail at the top. The way the room itself is arranged, reminds me of an impressionist artist’s room! 😂 Andrew
