Yes that's a shocking event, so many people who died or are thought to have died. We can but wonder why tourists were allowed on there in times of above normal activity on what is known to be a very active volcano.

Hundreds of people go up Mount Vesuvius or Mount Etna every day and tour around or within the crater or it's rim assuming it won't be today. It won't be me.
