A signed copy of Encore arrived here in Dublin yesterday Excellent, Paul! Although mine shipped on May 22nd, it has not yet arrived. It is a beautiful album...my fav has to be “Reflection” from Mulan! Lucy sang this song four years ago (age 12). Wish we heard the full song back then but when one gets the giggles... |

It will take me a few listens to find a favourite track on the album.
International post can be a bit slower at this time, I am waiting several weeks for an item from Greece.

Thank you for sharing this, Joe; it is always lovely to hear another song from Lucy. So often when two singers of different age and experience duet together, the more experienced singer will add harmonies while the other sings the basic melody. Here the roles are reversed, and Martha's beautiful harmony adds an extra special dimension to this wonderful song  |

You had me wondering with that one Joe. There is a Winstanley College half a mile from where I live, and my kids went to it's attached junior school, but I don't think it can be the same one!

Hello John!
The education system in England is far more regulated and refined than the American education system. It is wonderful that there are schools there that offer a specialized two-year education to students in Year 12 and Year 13. I remember that Connie Talbot’s school had a high school and sixth form.
Would a student in lower sixth study more subjects in addition to their A-level subjects?
The closest bare minimum equal to lower sixth-form would be 11th grade in a preparatory high school. SAT’s are a pale comparison to GCSE’s, and a university entrance exam might compare to an A-level exam.

I am not totally sure of the current situation, but I think it is still similar to when my boys were at school about 20 years ago.
A student in the lower sixth would typically take four main subjects to AS Level, then reduce to three in the following year for A Level.
Most universities base their acceptance criteria on A Level grades.
Some people take four A levels, but three is more general.
There might be other things like general studies and extra-curricular activities, but basically the curriculum is much more focussed than in lower school.

The two duets were “In the Arms of an Angel” and “Say Something”. The new video is now up! Lucy and Martha sang an incredible rendition of “You Raise Me Up”.
